We acknowledge and honor the Dakota nation, on whose ancestral land the City of Golden Valley is built, and
whose land resources we use. We commit to counteracting the erasure of the cultural practices and presence
of the Dakota people through education and by amplifying a wide range of indigenous voices.

1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 pm by Chair Weiswerda.
2. Roll Call

Matthew Sanders, Scott Seys, Dawn Speltz, and Linden Weiswerda
Commissioners absent: Brian Wright

3.LandAcknowledgmentStatement
Chair Weiswerda shared the Land Acknowledgment Statement with the commission.
4. Agenda Changes or Additions
None.
5. Approval of Minutes – July 24, 2023
MOTION moved by Commissioner Sanders and seconded by Commissioner Speltz to
approve the July 24, 2023 meeting minutes. Motion carried unanimously.
6. Request For Volunteer to Support Community Service Commission
Staff member Birno said the Community Service Commission is seeking volunteers to assist with
the 2023 family service organizations annual funding recommendations. Those interested can
reach out to Brian Erickson, Recreation Supervisor.
7. Play Trail Ribbon Cutting – October 10 at 5:30 pm at Lions Park
Staff members Birno invited the commissioners to the Play Trail Ribbon Cutting on October 10
at 5:30 pm at Lions Park.
8. Next OSRC meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 23 at Brookview
Staff member Birno reminded the commission that the next regular OSRC meeting is scheduled for
Monday, October 23 at 6:30 pm.
