Adjournment April 22, 2024–6:30pm Brookview Valley North Room REGULAR MEETING MINUTES 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Chair Weiswerda. 2. Roll Call Commissioners in person: Roger Bergman, John Cornelius, Bill Delaney, Matthew Olson, Scott Seys, Dawn Speltz, Linden Weiswerda Commissioners absent: Matthew Sanders, Brian Wright Staff present: Janelle Crossfield, Parks and Recreation Director; Police Chief Virgil Green; and Sheila Van Sloun, Administrative Assistant 3. Land Acknowledgment Statement Chair Weiswerda shared the Land Acknowledgment Statement with the commission. 4. Approval of Minutes – February 26, 2024 MOTION moved by Commissioner Bergmanand seconded by Commissioner Delaney to approve the February 26, 2024 meeting minutes. Motion carried unanimously. 6. Public Safety in the Parks – Police Chief Virgil Green Police Chief Green shared brief information on the event at Lions Park on April 7, stating it was an isolated, non-Golden Valley juvenile incident withno outstanding suspects or threat to the neighborhood. Chief Green said thirty-one officers are budgeted and they currently have twenty-two. He said added personnel to patrol parks would be helpful, along with addressing youth in the parks after 10 pm. Chief Green then discussed the possibility of cameras in parks. He talked about a one-year camera pilot program in Golden Valley parks. He also shared that the police department is working on a crime data dashboard to be shared with the public. Commissioner Olson said four trees need attention at Stockman Park. One behind the baseball field and three in the northeast corner of the park. 2. Commissioner Delaney asked about stakes around the Kelly Drive pond. Crossfield said the stakes are associated with flood mitigationin that area. b. New Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Coordinator vacancy– Staff member Crossfield said Kong Moua has been hired as the new Recreation Supervisor. His first day was Monday, April 15. She said the Recreation Coordinator position should be filled by early June. th annual event had 209 participantswith c. Run The Valley update – Crossfield said the 29 th cool temps. Next year’s 30 annual event will take place on Saturday, May 26, 2025. d. Medley Park Community Garden update – Crossfield said the Community Garden Open House will take place on Wednesday, April 17 from 3-6 pm. e.Brookview Tennis Court update –Crossfield said the work is scheduled for completion this year. f. Next OSRC meeting discussion – Due to the Memorial Day holiday, commissioners and staff agreed to move the May meeting to Monday, May 20 at 6:30 pm. 8.
