RESO 24-040 - Approval of City Department StructureRESOLUTION NO. 24-040 RESOLUTION FOR APPROVAL OF CITY DEPARTMENT STRUCTURE WHEREAS, the Golden Valley City Code Section 2-98(a) states “The City Council shall by resolution establish, amend, and revise the departments of the City, in consultation with the City Manager”; and WHEREAS, on November 19, 2019 the City adopted resolution No. 19-60 establishing nine City departments; and WHEREAS, on December 20, 2022 the City adopted Resolution No. 22-119 which replaced and superseded Resolution No. 19-60 to update the name of the Community Development Department; and WHEREAS, on May 2, 2023 the City adopted Resolution No. 23-031 which replaced and superseded Resolution No. 22-119 to add the Information Technology department; and WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends creating a new Finance Department and realigning certain administrative functions that provide internal services to other City departments under the umbrella of the Administrative Services department; and WHEREAS, the City Council and City Manager agree that the City will realize organizational efficiencies and internal clarity by replacing the Human Resources and Information Technology departments with the Administrative Services department, and adding Finance department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Golden Valley that the City’s organizational structure shall be comprised of the following departments:  Administrative Services  Communications  Community Development  Finance  Fire  Legal  Parks & Recreation  Police  Public Works This resolution replaces and supersedes Resolution No. 23-031. Adopted by the City Council of Golden Valley, Minnesota this 4th day of June 2024.
