CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

1. Call to Order
Mayor Harmon called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.
Present: Mayor Roslyn Harmon, Council Members Sophia Ginis, Maurice Harris, Denise La
Mere-Anderson, and Gillian Rosenquist
Staff present: City Manager Schuchman, City Attorney Cisneros, and City Clerk Schyma
1A. Pledge of Allegiance and Land Acknowledgement
Mayor Harmon led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance and read the Ci ty’s Land
Acknowledgement statement.
1B. Annual Review of MOU with Golden Valley Community Foundation
Dean Penk, Chair of the Golden Valley Community Foundation (GVCF), provided a review of
recent GVCF activities, their five pillars of focus, and an update on the Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) the foundation has with the City.
The Council thanked Mr. Penk and the GVCF for their decades of contributions to the
community.
2. Additions and Corrections to Agenda
Motion by Rosenquist, Second by Ginis to approve the agenda as submitted.
Motion carried 5-0.
3. Consent Agenda
Approval of Consent Agenda - All items listed under this heading are considered to be routine
by the City Council and will be enacted by one motion. There will be no discussion of these
items unless a Council Member so requests in which event the item will be removed from the
general order of business and considered in its normal sequence on the agenda.

Motion by La Mere-Anderson, Second by Harris to approve the Consent Agenda as revised:
removal of Item #3C.1. Accept Resignation from the Bassett Creek Watershed Management
Committee (BCWMC).
Motion carried 5-0.

Council Member Harris and Mayor Harmon thanked Dr. Roxanne Biidabinokwe Gould for her
commitment to sustainability and community.
Motion by Harris, Second by Rosenquist to accept the resignation of Dr. Roxanne Biidabinokwe
Gould from the Bassett Creek Watershed Management Committee (BCWMC).
Motion carried 5-0.

Mayor Harmon reviewed upcoming city meetings, events, and holiday closures.

1. Other Committee/Meeting updates
Mayor Harmon provided a recap of the sold-out Sweet Potato Comfort Pie Annual Rev. Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. Service Holiday which took place on January 19.
Mayor Harmon stated that she has received questions from the community about the recent
wildfires in California and their concern about whether Golden Valley has the personnel,
infrastructure, and capacity to handle a major catastrophe.

The meeting was adjourned by unanimous consent at 7:07 pm.
