CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

1. Call to Order
Mayor Harmon called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.
Present: Mayor Roslyn Harmon, Council Members Sophia Ginis, Maurice Harris, Denise La
Mere-Anderson, and Gillian Rosenquist
Staff present: City Manager Schuchman, City Attorney Cisneros, Fire Chief Brunsell, Assistant Fire
Chief Schuster, Fire Lieutenant Johnson, Firefighter Chapman, Firefighter Kennelly,
Community and Economic Development Director Goellner, Deputy Community
Development Director McGuire, GreenCorps member Laughlin, Parks and
Recreation Director Crossfield, Golf Operations Manager Disch, Golf Course
Superintendent Haley, Golf Course Assistant Superintendent Wigdahl, City Engineer
Ryan, and City Clerk Schyma
1A. Pledge of Allegiance and Land Acknowledgement
Mayor Harmon led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance and read the City’s Land
Acknowledgement statement.
1B. Presentation of GVFD Life Saving Awards - Firefighter Chapman, Lieutenant Johnson,
Firefighter Kennelly
Fire Chief Brunsell discussed the awards and the lifesaving actions taken on April 4. She then
presented GVFD Life Saving Awards to Firefighter Chapman, Lieutenant Johnson, and Firefighter
Kennelly for their professional and courageous conduct.
1C. Proclamation for International Firefighters' Day on May 4, 2025
Fire Chief Brunsell discussed the proclamation for International Firefighters' Day on May 4, 2025.
Mayor Harmon stated that the City Council of the City of Golden Valley does hereby recognize May
4, 2025 as International Firefighters’ Day and ask all to join in remembering the fallen and those still
serving their communities and urge all citizens to express appreciation by showing our gratitude to
firefighters everywhere.

1D. New Employee Introductions
Fire Chief Brunsell introduced full time firefighters Matt Chapman and Jon Kennelly.
Community and Economic Development Director Goellner introduced Chloe McGuire, Deputy
Community Development Director and Gunnar Laughlin, GreenCorps member.
Golf Operations Manager Disch introduced Brian Haley, Golf Course Superintendent and Ryan
Wigdahl, Golf Course Assistant Superintendent.
2. Additions and Corrections to Agenda
Motion by Rosenquist, Second by Harris to approve the agenda as submitted.
Motion carried 5-0.
3. Consent Agenda
Approval of Consent Agenda - All items listed under this heading are considered to be routine
by the City Council and will be enacted by one motion. There will be no discussion of these
items unless a Council Member so requests in which event the item will be removed from the
general order of business and considered in its normal sequence on the agend a.
Mayor Harmon acknowledged that there are a couple of donations and membership updates to
several boards and commissions on the Consent Agenda tonight and, on behalf of the Council,
she extended their heartfelt gratitude to the community members, businesses, and
organizations who generously donate their time, energy, and financial support to important
programs and initiatives in Golden Valley. She further noted that there are still some youth and
adult vacancies on various boards and commissions and encouraged anyone who is interested
to fill out the application form on the City website.
Motion by Harris, Second by La Mere-Anderson to approve the Consent Agenda as submitted.
Motion carried 5-0.

work and presentation at the State of the City on April 9.
