Community engagement subcommittee is also in communication with Damascus Way for future outreaching and community engagement. b. DEIC Partnership Vice Chair Cisneros reports building relationship with other commissions particularly the DEIC Commission in efforts to honor that there are a lot of overlapping work and values between the commissions. There have been two meetings set between the Chairs of both Commissions in order to get to know each other and share updates on commission work being done. There have been efforts to look over each commissions work plans in order to see which other ways to overlap efforts in strategic ways. One challenge is that events between both commissions sometimes occur on the same day and it may be hard to support each other on those circumstances. Both commissions are also trying to align on workplan cycles to see if there is any way that both commissions can strategically work on them at the same time. c. Racial Equity Policy Review Update Vice Chair Cisneros and Trey reported to have been in communication with City Staff Equity and Inclusion Manager Seth Kaempfer regarding policies that PEACE thought they could give their input. It would go as a three-week flow and during the second week in August PEACE will meet with Assistant Chief White to address the top ten identified policies PEACE has comments on. d. Value Setting Workshop: During this workshop PEACE identified the following values: Truth, Patience, Cooperation, Understanding, Fairness, Lifelong learning, Equality, Curiosity, Integrity, Uplifting, Centering historically marginalized voices, transparency. Vice Chair Cisneros suggested on asking for City Approval to have the values placed on walls during the PEACE Meetings. e. City Manager Update City Manager Noah Schuchman spoke on his value of communication in order to develop and earn trust to work through challenges. Schuchman stated he aims to know what will be helpful to PEACE Commission in order to help him be clear with his staff on how to give direction. Vice Chair Cisneros shared her alignment with those sentiments and states she will look forward to set up meetings with City Manager Noah Schuchman and Chair Trey Gladney to further discuss how to better work together.
