2026 Goals and Dates
Two new City Council Members, Tracey Fussy and Chris Queitzsch, will be sworn in on January 6,
2026. Staff anticipate that conversations about commissions and work plans may restart again
next year with the new City Council.
With the December meeting canceled, staff encourage the Environmental Commission to begin
thinking about goals for next year and how its work can support the City Council's current
projects and strategic goals for further discussion at meetings in 2026. This includes ideas for next
year's work plan based on City Council's directives. Recent work plans have run from May to the
following May.
One topic we would like feedback on is the possibility of changing the regular Environmental
Commission meeting time from the fourth Monday of the month to the third Monday of the
month. Currently, the Environmental Commission meets at the same time as the Planning
Commission and the Open Space and Recreation Commission, so changing the meeting date
would allow more people to attend commission meetings, including staff, City Council Members,
and community members.
This change would require a vote by the Environmental Commission to amend the bylaws to
adjust the regular meeting date, which would go through legal review before being brought to
the City Council for ultimate approval.
For the Commission's reference and consideration, the dates of the current schedule and the
potential new schedule are both listed below.
