GOLDEN VALLEY HUMAN SERVICES FOUNDATION
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 12, 1994
HELD IN THE LOWER LEVEL CONFERENCE ROOM, CITY HALL

The meeting was called to order at 7:10pm by Chair Jack Cole.
1. It was moved, seconded and passed, to approve the minutes of the meeting of
August 8, 1994, as corrected in paragraph 2, delete the "t" in front of the
word "publication", and in 5G, line two, change "there" to "their".
2. Allocation of funds for 1995 year:
A. It was moved, seconded and passed, to project the 1995 pull tab income at
$25,000.
B. It was moved, seconded and passed, to not grant funds to the following organ-
izations due to the lack of projected pull tab income:
Family Hope Services; Senior Community Services; Mediation Center;
C. It was moved, seconded and passed to grant the following human services
organizations in the following amount for 1995:
Home Free Shelter - $12,000
PRISM 3,000
Crisis Connection - 1,000
NW YMCA Detached Worker 10,000
District 281 Adventure Club 1,000
Total allocation
27,000
3. 2,000 Golden Valley Human Services pamphlets will be distributed to the Golden
Valley public library, Brookview Community Center, Golden Valley City Hall,
and Marquette Bank Golden Valley. The printing to be completed within two weeks.
4. Annual fund raising reports:
A. Sue Virnig reported for Gloria Johnson that the Georgia Carpet Company will
be vacating their store on November 30th thus giving the Foundation a "window
of opportunity" for a location of a fund raising project. Johnsonsuggested
the selling of table spaces for groups or persons to sell holiday arts and
crafts. After considerable discussion of the pros and cons, the Foundation
members took no action.
B. Solicitation of businesses letter: Vern Montroy reported that he has a list
of 1,500 businesses in Golden Valley. He will put the list on a computer and
the Foundation members will edit the list and revise the previous letter of
solicitation at the next meeting. The business solicitation goal is to have
the letter sent to Golden Valley businesses by next May on Foundation letter-
head stationary over the signiture of Vern Montroy and (Coach) Cal Stoll.
C. Little League tournament report: David Albersman recommended that this option
be eliminated due to the lack of facilities in Golden Valley for a major type
contest.
D. Sweatshirt sale report: Lissa Heilicher reported that a Golden Valley shirt
done locally will cost a one time charge for screening of $100; the cost of
screening each shirt is $3.50; the cost of shirts will be $12. to 15. depend-
on quality. She displayed a logo with purple, gold and green colors. Further
research will be done by Heilicher and Albersman.
5. The next Foundation meeting will be Monday, October 10, 1994 at the City Hall.
There being no further business, the Foundation adjourned at 9:15 pmn .;J() a.A..
