GOLDEN VALLEY HUMAN SERVICES FOUNDATION
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF JANUARY 9. 1995
HELD IN THE COUNCIL CONFERENCE ROOM

I. The meeting was called to order by Chair Jack Cole at 7:05 PM.
II. INew Foundation member Bob Lang was introduced and welcomed to the Foundation.
III. Cheryl Weiler made a presentation regarding the production of calendars as a
potentiaLfund raiser for the Foundation.
A. Reference materials were distributed to the members present. Calendar
Basics provided an outline of items to consider in the planning of the
project and "rough"~estimates from three different printing companies
on the costs involved. A second reference material was a case study
on a calendar/annual report project actually done by the city of Kings-
port. Tennessee.
B. Members discussed the mission of the project and marketing ideas for the
calendar.
C. The Golden Valley calendar project idea purpose is to promote the City
Foundation to residents/friends of the City of Golden Valley and be
an annual fund raiser for the Foundation with a goal of generating to
the Foundation money estimated at a minimum of $2.000. (The annual goal
of funds to suppliment the pull tab revenues is set at $12.000.)
D. Further discussion of the calendar project was tabled for the purpose of
reviewing other suggested fund raisers projects.
IV. Tee Shirt Sale Project: Dave Albersman reported on a tee shirt promotion.
A. A source for tee shirts could supply for $5.50 per shirt plus a one time
set up charge for the logo of $40.00. subject to the following:
1. 1 color shirt (background).
2. 2 color logo.
3. front logo only.
4. sizes to be large and medium large only.
5. based on an order of 300 shirts.
6. 100% cotton shirt.
B. The general range of cost for tee shirts is generally 4.80 - under 6.00.
V. Creating bLink note cards utilizing the Golden Valley photo contest entries
was discussed.
A. Note cards are not time prohibited. such as calendars. and could be
marketed/produced as at a lower cost than calendars.
B. Utilizing the contest photos from Golden Valley residents to create a
local useable product was discussed further.
VI. It was moved. seconded and passed. to create a Golden Valley logo tee shirt
and Golden Valley note cards to have available for sale at the Winnetka
Avenue opening this Spring. subject to obtaining cost information on the
cards by the next Foundation meeting.

It was movedt seconded and passedt to have an Arts and Crafts' sale on
March 10 and 11 at the site of the Georgia Carpet store on Highway 55.
Due to the lateness of the meetingt the following items on the agenda were
deferred to the February meeting:
A. Approval of the minutes of the December 12t 1994 meeting.
B. Discussion of the survey results from Decision Resources and North
Hennepin Human Services.
C. Solicitation letter to businesses.
D. Golden Valley board game.
E. Week long events.
F. Status of 501(c)3.
G. Pull tab revenues and donations to date.
IX. The next meeting of the Foundation will be MondaYt February 13t 1995 at
the city council conference roomt 7:00 PM.
There being no further businesst the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.
