GOLDEN VALLEY HUMAN SERVICES FOUNDATION
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF APRIL 10, 1995
HELD IN THE COUNCIL CONFERENCE ROOM
MEMBERS PRESENT: Don Anderson; Jack Cole; Robert Blenkush; Gloria Johnson; Bob Lang;
Ruth Heaner; Jay Hoffman;
MEMBERS ABSENT: Sue Virnig, staff laison (vacation); Cal Stoll; Elissa Heilicher;
David Albersman; Jennifer Smith;
OTHERS PRESENT: None
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by Chair Jack Cole.
I. The minutes of the meeting of March 6, 1995 were approved as mailed.
II. The chair offered congratulations to each member who was reappointed to the Found-
ation.
III. The chair announced that Ruth Heaner was resigning from the Foundation as of) the
end of her term on May I, 1995 and expressed appreciation to her for her input to
the Foundation since it was created by the city council.
IV. The results from the arts and crafts show sponsored at the former Georgia Carpet
store in the Plaza Shopping area on Saturday, March II, 1995 (9:30-5PM) were as
follows:

V. It was agreed by concensus that the sign advertising the T-shirts and note cards
in the city hall entrance area should be corrected to indicate that they are
"Golden Valley" T-shirts and not "Foundation" T"';shirts that are being offered.
VI. Members volunteered to help sell notes and T~shirts on June 3, 1995 at the Women
of Today's FunFest, 1 - 7PM. Final details to be accomplished at the next meet-
ing. A sign or display piece 'should be obtained for that event.
VII. It was recommended that the Little League board of directors be asked if the
Golden Valley T~shirts could be sold at their concession stand.
VIII. The public safety building open house and the opening of Winnetka Avenue in June
will also be another time to sell the T-shirts and note cards. It was suggested
that the members of the city council be asked to wear the Golden Valley T-shirt
as the "uniform of the day".
IX. Jack Cole will contact someone at General Mills regarding selling T-shirts and
note cards at their main office.
X. Robert Blenkush will follow up on the business solicitation letter which had been
drafted.
XI. It was suggested the Lilac Open golf tournament be considered as a place to sell
T-shirts in the entry fee. The golf package should republicized in the Brookview
PR and city newsletter.

XII. Letters to the human services organizations about applications for funding for
the 1996 budget year should be sent out.
XIII. Jack Cole will contact Cal Stoll about his contact with the new restaurants in
Golden Valley and their interest in charitable pulltab gambling sales.
New Business:
IXV. The next meeting of the Foundation will be Monday, May 8, 1995, 7PM at the council
conference room.
XV. Ruth Heaner expressed her concern about how the Foundation advertises for funding
solicitations and what agencies are selected to receive Foundation funds.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:00 PM.
