GOLDEN VALLEY HUMAN SERVICES FOUNDATION
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 12, 1995
HELD IN THE COUNCIL CONFERENCE ROOM
MEMBERS PRESENT: Sue Virnig, Staff; Don Anderson; Hilmer Erickson; Jack Cole; Sharon
Mattison; Gloria Johnson; Jay Hoffman;
MEMBERS ABSENT: Bob Lang; David Albersman; Jennifer Smith; Elissa Heilicher; Robert
Blenkush;
1. The meeting was called to order by chair Jack Cole at 7:10 PM.
2. It was moved by Jay Hoffman, seconded by Hilmer Erickson, to approve the minutes
of the meeting of August 14, 1995, as distributed.
3. Chair Jack Cole welcomed Sharon Mattison to the Foundation.
4. Allocation requests: Applications have been received from the following organiza-
tions:
PRISM for $5,000
Senior Community Services for $1,505
Northwest YMCA for $20,000
Home Free for $20,501
Chair Cole outlined the processes to review the requests for funding. The City
Council has discussed adding some funding to the Foundation but no decisions or
budget has been made. Pull tab revenues are on about the same level as last year
at this time thus the estimated total receipts of $27,000 may still hold.
It was moved by Jay Hoffman, seconded by Gloria Johnson, to allocate funding to:
PRISM for $2,300 (8.5%)
HOME FREE SHELTER for $12,350 (45.7%)
Northwest YMCA for $ 12,350 (45.7%)
Total $27,000
The motion passed unanimously.
5. Fun Run: 30 applications have been received to date from runners. About $1,200
has been received or committed. from businesses and organizations in Golden Valley
to sponsor the event or help on the expenses. McDonaldtswill donate orange drink
and cups.
Gloria Johnson moved that the run date be printed on the back of the T shirts
with 50 but nor to exceed 100 shirts being so printed. Second by Hilmer Erickson.
Motion carried.

1. Elissa Heilicher Elissa will bring coffee for the workers.

Gloria Johnson will hand out medalions to winners.
Apples will be given out to runners.
Orange drink will be free to runners
T shirts will be available for sale at $5. each.

6. It was moved by Jack Cole, seconded by Gloria Johnson, to enter the 1996 Run
on September 21, 1996, with the runners association cal~ndar. Motion passed.
7. The remaining. unsold Tshirts have been reduced to $5 each to sellout the stock.
8. The business solicitation letter was reviewed. Final action was deferred to the
October meeting.
9. The next meeting of the Fotmdationwill be Monday, October 9, 1995, at the Golden
Valley council conference room.
10. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35 PM.
