GOLDEN VALLEY HUMAN SERVICES FOUNDATION
Minutes of the March 13, 2000 Meeting
Golden Valley City Council Room
Members Present: Hilmer Erickson, Terri DeVeau, Karen Neis, Helen Bassett, Carolyn Fiterman,
Mary Anne Moore, Julie Fenyk, and Gloria Johnson and Sue Virnig, Staff Liaison.
Members Absent: Linda Hawkinson, Elissa Heilicher
Guest: LeAnne Christensen from Cable 12
Call to Order: Chair Teri DeVeau called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
Approval of February Minutes: The motion to approve the minutes was seconded, and passed by all
those present.
Run the Valley: LeAnne Christensen discussed Cable 12 willingness to promote the event. They
would put a link to the event on their web site and air a promo for the event on Cable 12. Mary Anne
and Teri agreed to appear on the Cable 12 morning show the week of the event.
We have sponsorship guaranteed for the following items: donuts/muffins, juice, Y oplait yogurt,
bagels, Glenwood water, and apples. We still need: napkins and coffee. Teri and Mary Anne will
check with Jimmy Jingle and another coffee vendor for a possible donation. Lupient and Liberty are
committed as sponsors, but we are unsure ofNorwest.
V olunteers- The YMCA will provide 10 volunteers. GVHSF board members should be available
around 7:00 a.m. on the day of the event. The timers and the police reserve have committed to the
event. Dave Kiser from Cable 12 will be the announcer. We will put together the packets for the race
on the evening of Apri110th before our board meeting. Please meet at 6:00 p.m.
Board members should distribute registration flyers for the run. The annual Golden Valley Fun Run
fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Apri115. The cost to pre-register will be $12 and $18 for the day
of the event.
Golf Fundraiser:
The golf tournament is scheduled for Friday morning, September 15. We will be able to have a
shotgun start around 8:30 a.m. Sue passed out a list of previous sponsors. We divided up the list and
board members will need to contact them about sponsoring the tournament again this year. The
brochures will be printed in June, so we would like to have the major sponsors committed by then, so
that they can be included on the brochure.
