Agenda Item
1, Housing Task Force — Housing Golden Valley's Future
Prepared By
Jeanne Andre, Assistant Director
Summary
Chair Pentel has introduced the idea of a creating a Housing Task Force to involve citizens in
advising the City on ways to meet the City's life -cycle housing needs as identified in the
Comprehensive Plan. The proposed time line is to have a Task Force in place by the end of
May with perhaps 3 meetings by the beginning of summer, a summer break and resuming
meetings in the fall with a public forum at the end of November and a final report and
recommendations to the HRA by the beginning of next year.
The Task Force could consider tools currently under Council consideration, such as
residential rezoning and the Livable Communities Guidelines, and also identify other tools.
Staff will try to have more information for discussion on Tuesday.
If the HRA supports the creation of such a task force, staff seeks direction on the proposed
membership, mission and responsibilities for the Task Force. Given this direction a resolution
could be drafted for formal consideration at the HRA's April Meeting.
