Review City Flood Preparation and Response Prepared By Jeannine Clancy, Director of Public Works Jeff Oliver, PE, City Engineer Summary Bassett Creek flows through the City and is a significant asset to the community. However, the creek also brings with it the threat of flooding and property damage. There is a significant history of flooding in Golden Valley along Bassett Creek and its tributaries. The heavy snowfalls of the winter of 2010-11 have resulted in increased public attention to the risk of flooding this spring. While there is a risk of flooding due to snowmelt in our community, there is an ever present risk of flooding due from high intensity precipitation events, which can occur at any time. Staff from the Public Works Department and Fire Department will be present at the Special Council/Manager meeting to discuss the preparations, policies and priorities for flooding in the City.
