PRIVATE DEVELOPMENTS
Bottineau LRT Transitway
The proposed Bottineau LRT Transitway, which would connect downtown Minneapolis
to the northwest suburbs, is currently undergoing a Draft Environmental Impact
Statement (DEIS) review. The DEIS is studying wetland and floodway impacts of the
portion of the Transitway that would cross through Golden Valley via Theodore Wirth
Park (D-1 alignment on attached map). DEIS work will continue through the summer of
2012.
Following the DEIS, Hennepin County hopes to select either the D-1 alignment (through
Golden Valley) or the D-2 alignment (through Minneapolis) as the preferred alternative.
Before doing so, the County would look for both city support, as well as a
recommendation from the Bottineau Transitway Policy Advisory Committee, which is
comprised of local and state elected officials representing the various jurisdictions in
which the Transitway is located. Council Member Paula Pentel serves on this committee
as a representative for Golden Valley.

DECOLA PONDS
A second neighborhood meeting was held with the residents around DeCola Ponds to
discuss the findings of the initial study of flooding in the area. This discussion also
included potential structural and non-structural measures that may be implemented.
In the past month City staff has met with the cities of Crystal and New Hope to discuss
the scope of a second phase of study for the DeCola Ponds and Medicine Lake Road.
Following this meeting and agreement on the scope, Barr Engineering was asked to
finalize the letter of proposal, including costs to perform the study. The final letter of
proposal will be forwarded to the other cities for review. A joint meeting of the three City
Councils is anticipated for this winter to discuss the issue.
