TMDL
Twin Cities Metro Area Chloride Project - Staff attended the 11th Annual Road Salt
Symposium on February 2. At the symposium, MPCA’s project manager for this TMDL,
Brooke Asleson, presented on the status of the management plan development.
Information is being gathered and stakeholder meetings will occur in the near future to
develop a chloride restoration and protection plan. The estimated completion of the
implementation plan is 2014. MPCA staff will be contacting staff at Golden Valley to
discuss salt usage, application rates and methods as part of the information gathering.
I/I
Residents in the 2012 PMP area received a second letter inviting them to participate in
the free inspection program.
MCES conducted a workshop on February 16th, regarding the Inflow and Infiltration
Surcharge program. Two members of staff were part of a panel that presented
information about what other cities are doing to reduce I/I. A copy of the city’s
presentation is included in the packet materials.

DECOLA PONDS
City staff is working with the consultant on the presentation dates for the phase 1 study
and the scope and schedule for the phase 2 study.
