OF THE
GOLDEN VALLEY BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS
June 14, 1966
A regular meeting of the Golden Valley Board of Zoning Appeals
was he1d on Tuesday, June 14, 1g66, at 7 :30 p.m, at the Golden
Valley Civic Center , 7800 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley,
Minnes�ta. Chairman Velz presided and the following members were
present : Anderson and Christiansen. Also present were Senstad,
Westlake, Schmid, and Phyllis Jordahl .

MOVED by Christiansen, sec�onded by Anderson to approve the minutes
of May 10, 19bb, carried unanimously.
66-6-9 John Greenwood ( 1 ) 2515 McNair Drive
The petiti�n is for the waiver of Section 3, 07 of the Zoning
Regulations, frontyard and sideyard setbacks . The petitioner
desires a waiver of 5 feet to a setback of 6 feet for the sideyard
and a frantyard waiver �f 2 feet to a setback of 33 feet .
MOVED by Christiansen , seconded by Anderson to approve the waivers,
carried unanimously.
66-6-15 Robert Luke (15� 1720 Louisiana Avenue North
The petition is for the waiver of Section 3.07 Zoning Regulations,
sideyard setback, The petitioner desires a waiver of 6 feet to a
setback of 29 feet for a proposed double garage,
MOVED by Anderson, seconded by Christiansen, to approve the side-
yard waiver , stipulating that the petitioner work out the water
problem with the Village Engineer and Building Inspector , carried
unanimously.
66-6- 16 P�oint Supper Club ( 16) 7711 Golden Valley Road
The petition is for the waivers of Section 5.05 and 13.01 of the
Z�ning Regutations, sideyard and parking requirements. �
The B�ard recognized a discrepancy between the registered land
survey and the architects drawings which made it impossibte to
accurately determine the sideyard dimensions along Golden Valley
Road. The applicant is to have the survey checked.
The proposal is for construction of an entrance and remodeling of
the building along the Golden Valley Road side,;' In order to get a
building permit, waivers would be necessary as follows to take the
property out of a non-conforming situation :
1 . A waiver of 25 feet to a sideyard setback of 10 feet along
6th Avenue North.
2, A waiver of 32 feefi to a sideyard setback of 3 feet along

3, A waiver of parking requirements, however the applicant
stated that parkir�g is being provided on the sfluth side of 6th Ave
N. Parking off the property is permitted for places of Industry or
Manufacture (See 13. 01 ) , but not specifically provided by Ordinance
f�r places of business.
The Point Supper Club has operated at this locati�n and under
existing circumstances for some considerable period �f time. Members
of the Board of Appea 1 s expressed the opi nion that the scope of the
waivers involved in the applicati�n were somewhat beyond the powers
of the S�ard to grant . In view af the survey discrepancies and the
desire of the applicant for a quick decision, the Board of Appeals
to�k the ffltlowing acti �n:
MOVED by Anderson , seconded by Christiansen to deny the application,
carried unanims�usty , It was understood by the Board that the
applicant wished to appeat this decisic�n to the Council at the
earliest possible time.
6b-6- 17 Bill Webster (23 ) $155 Wayzata Boutevard
The petition is for the waiver of Sectis�n 3.�2- 1 a � b, of the
Zoning Regulations for a prop�sed dc�ubte bungalow in this location.
H�wever , confirmation of an interpretation of ordinances regarding
a d�uble bungalow is requested ,
MOVED by Christiansen seconded by Anderson to defer this matter
until the petiti �ner is able to work with the property owners
and the Engineering Dept , regarding the cost of sewer to service
this area. Also, the petiti€�ner must obtain the proper signatures
on the �rdinance Waiver Petiti�n . The m�tion carried unanimously.

The petition is for the waiver �f Section 3 .07 of the Zoning
Regulati�ns, The petiti �ner desires a waiver �f 12 feet t� a setback
of 23 feet for a pr�p�sed single family dwelling facing Naper St.
MOVED by Christiansen, seconded by Anders�n to appr�ve the requested
waiver , carried unanim�usty.
