A regular meeting of the Golden Valley 8oard �f Zoning Appeals
was held t�n Tuesday , September 13, 1966, at 7:30 p.m. at the
Golden Valley Civic Center , 7800 Golden Valley Road, Golden Vatley,
Minnes4ta. Vice Chairman Jensen presided and Anderson and
Swedberg were pr�sent. Also present were Senstad, Schmid and
Phyllis Jordahl .
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
MOVED by Anderson, seconded by Swedberg to appr�ve the minutes
of August 9, 1g66, carried unanimousiy.
b6-9-22 Olaf M Horgan ( 11 ) 2400 Douglas Drive
The request was withdrawn due to the demise of the petition and
the Board unanimously agreed to return the petitioner ' s fee.
66-9-23 Pure Oit Company ( 11 ) 1900 Doug1as Drive
The petiti�n is for the waiver of 30' to a re aryard setback of
20� Qn existing building. A waiver of 20� on a proposed new bay
to a sideyard setback of 30� and a waiver �f 37 � on a rearyard
setback for a prop�sed storage area. The canopy situati�n was
discussed and in this case the B�ard agreed to approve a waiver
for such, if needed.
MOVED by Swedberg , sec�nded by Anderson t� grant the waiver of
a 30' to a rearyard setback of 20� on the existing building, a
waiver of 20' on a proposed new bay t� a sideyard setback of 30�
and a waiver of 37 � on a rearyard setback for the proposed storage
area, and waivers to permit the c�nstruction of the canopies
24' x 25' , 20� x 20� , if needed, carried unanimous1y.
66-9-24 Ernest Smith ( 19) 2500 Orkla Drive
The petition is for the waiver of Section 3. 07 - 1 , a sideyard
waiver of 10� fio a setback of 25' on a praposed attached garage.
The Board defierred action on this matter , h�ping that the pro-
ponent coutd c�me up with a p1an that would be in closer con-
formance with the �rdinance,
66-9-25 Merbert G Rotsch (8) 4216 Poplar Drive
The petiti�n is for a waiver of Section 3. 12- 1 of the Zoning Code
(access�ry buildings shall be at least 20� from main building and
5' from bounda�y lines) for a 17' waiver ts� a distance of 3 ' from
the main building and a 3 ' waiver to a setback of 2 ' from the 1ot
1ine.
MOVED by Anderson , seconded by Swedberg to grant the waivers due
to the lay flf the land, carried unanimously.

The petitifln is f�r a waiver c�f Section 3.07 sideyard setback,
A waiver c�f 4� to a sideyard setback of 11 ' on an existing
building is requested.
MOVED by Swedberg�, seconded by Anders�n to approve the waiver ,
because it is an upgrading situatic�n, carried unanimousty.
66-9-27 Th�amas J Ryan (4) 2820 Lee Avenue North
This item was brought up by the Staff, However , the Soard
reaffirmed its previous recc�mmendation that Village Rutes and
Regulati�ns shall be comp1ied with in alt other res�ects .
b6-y-28 Orville Netson (20) 1608 Inde�endence Avenue North
The request is for the waiver �f Section 3. 07 Qf the Zoning Cflde-
sideyard setback. The waiver is for appr�ximately 9' t� a side-
yard setback �f 6� c�n the existing dwelling.
The Board wished to defer acti�n �n this matter until the
prop�nent cc�mes in with the necessary information f�r
c�nsidering this petition.
A moti�n was entertained f�r adjournment at 10:30 p.m.
