A regular meeting �f the Go�den Va11ey Board flf Zoning Appeats was held
Tuesday, Sepfiember 12 , 1967 at 7:30 p.m, at the Golden Vatley Civic Center
7800 Go1den Va11ey Road, Golden Valley, Minnesota. Chairman Christianse�
presided and the fol1owing members wer� present . Vetz, Jensen, Anderson,
Raugland, Bruch. Also present was Jon Westlake.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
MOVED by Anderson, seconded by Jensen, unanimousty carried t� approve
the minutes �f August lo, 1967.

Because �f the rezoning �f the property to the North of Goiden Va11ey
Road frflm Open �eveiopment tfl Multiple Dwetting, the petitioner withdrew
his request for variances. In view Qf this the pr�ponent asked for a
refund �f his �iling fee.
MOVED by Anderson, seconded by Jensen, unanimously carried t� grant the
prop�nent a refund of his filing fee,

The petition is for the waiver of Section 4.02 ��r use as a business
office located Qn the second floar of the Crossroads Apartments. (office

MOVED by Andersfln, seconded by Ra�gtand, unanimousiy carried to deny
. the request since fihe board fe�1s they have a right to waive limitatians
but nflt to add �r detract from an ardinance. By doing so they w�utd be
permitting a use n�t permitted by ordinance, '
The Board pointed out that at the time the bui1ding ptans were approved
by the Council , nfl office space was shown in the plans.

7he petition is for the waiver of Secfiion 5,05 of 15' to a front yard
setback of 20+ fro� the East right af way line �f Indiana Avenue, and a
waiver �f Section 13.01 flf 55 parking spaces from the required 87 to 32
parking spaces, and als4 a waiver of section 13.02 of parking on 1andscaped
area; the fallowing are the requirements of said section i3.02 which t'he
proponent has requested to be waived.
(a) 35� off West property l �ne for parking lot(off Indiana Ave. )
(b) 35� off East property tine for parking tot(off Meadow Lane)

MOVED by 8ruch, seconded by Anderson, unanimously earried to deny the
request. Ghairman Christiansen abstained. The Board feels that the
building is of such size that the parcel ofi iand sh�utd be larger in
retationship to the b�ilding, It is felt fihat no particutar hardship
exists.

The petiti�n is f4r �he waiver of Section 11 .06 of 45� to a rear set6ack

d�uble garage in the northwest corner of �he prvperty. (proposal is to
move existing garage further in to undevel4ped northwest corner of lot) .
The garage is used for equipment storage.

MOVED by Jensen, secc�nded by Anderson, unanimously carried to defer
acti�n on this item pending the request for rezoning 4f the parcei of
property where the garage is now setting.

Tl�e petition is for the waiver af Section 4,04 of 154 to a front yard
setback of 35 � on Highway 55 and a waiver of i7.5' to a rear yard
setback of 32,5 � (norfiheast corner flf property) .
MOVED by Bruch, second�d by Anderson to deny the appiication. Carried
with 4 yeas , 2 nay.
A mc�tion was entertained for adjournment at 10:00 p,m.
