MINUT�'S OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE
GOLI3II�i VALLEY BO.ARD OF ZONING APPEALS
SEPTFMBER 9, 1969
The regulax meeting of the Golden Valley Board of Zoning Appeals �ras
held Tuesd�y� September 9' 1969, at $:30 P,M. at the Golden Valley Civic Genter,
780(3 Go2den Va11ey ftoad� Golden Va11ey, Minnesota. The following Board members,
constitu�ing a quorum� w�re present:

LeRoy W. Anderson, Chairman of the Board, presided and Jan b. Westlake,
Secretary of the Board of Zoning Appeals, acted as Secretary of the meeting.
The first orc3er of business was the consideration of the mi.nutes of the
meeting of the Baard held on August 12� 1969, eopies of which had been distributed
to the B4axd. It was moved by Paul Senstad, seconded by Mortan Silverman,
carried unanimously, to a�aprove the minutes of the meeting held on August 12, 1969.
The Chairman then brought before t�e meeting the following requests for
waivers:

The petition is for the waiver of Sectian
3•Q7-3-(b) for 12.�� on an existing home to a sideyard setback of l�
off the Northeast property line. (Required 13.��)

26.�� off Manor �irive. Required 35' )
Mr. Richard J. Holbo�n explained his request to the Board.
The Board noted the waivers as requested are an the e�c�.sting strueture and
not on th� proposed addition. �
Tt was moved by Paul Senstad, �econded by Robert Hoover, carried unanimously,
to recommend that the building permit be issued and that no waivers be grarited.

The Board in reviewi.ng the request poin-ted out that two of the waivers
are an the existing structure. Because of the realignment of the South
property line, the waiqex on the addition. is on a protruding corner.
It was moved by Robert Hoover, seconded by 13onald Franzen, unanimously
carried, to grant a waiver of Section 1l�.02 of the Zoning Code for the
expansion of a nonconforming use, specifically, expansion via the construction
of a 7' x 22.7' addition to the South of the present structure. Also, a.
waiver of Section 3.07 (1) for 1.5� on the Southwest corner of a proposed
additi.c�n to a sideyard setback of 13.5� off the South p�operty line was
granted, on condition, however, that said waa.ver c�oes not apply to any
future structtzres nor to any futura construetion whatsoever, but only to the
specific eonstruction with respect to which an application for building permit
is now being made.

request.
The Hoard no�ed the proponent is requesting to enlarge the present storage
area �a camply with the food sanitation code.
It was moved by Paul 3enstad, seconded b� Morton Silverman, to recommend
that the building permit be issued and that �ro waivers be granted in order to
leave the site in a nonconforming 5tatus. The motion carried unani.mously.

The Board noted the request is for a two story office building and lan�i-
seaping. A waiver of landscaping indicates a lack of parking for the size af the
bu�.ldimg in r�lation to the si�e of the lot. A1.so the Board after reviewing the
request stated that there is no apparent hardship running with the land.
It was then moved by Paul Serrstad, seconded by Robert Hoover, unanimously
earried, to deny tY�e request.

withdraw the request for further study.
There being no further business to come before the meeting, it was on motion,
duly seconded, adjourned at 9:�5 p.m.
