MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
GOLDEN VALLEY BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS
MAY 2b, 1970
The special mee�ing of the Golden Val�.ey Board of Zonin� Appeals was
held Tussday, May 26, 197Q, at 7:30 P.M. at the Crolden Va11e�r Civ�c Center,
7800 Golden Va11ey Road, Golden Valley, Minnesota. The followin� Board members,
constituting a quorum, were present:
Dr, Robert R. Hoover
Mort Silverman
LeRoy Anderson
Donald E. Fran2en
Joe Brown
Mr. James Tngemunson was present as Acting Secretary,
Z'he first order of business was the consideration of the minutes af the
meeting of the Board held on May 12, 1970, copies of which had been distribut�d
to the Board. It was moved by Don Franzen, seconded by Joe Brown, carried
unanimously, to approve the minutes of the mee�ing held on May 12, 1970.
'T`h:e Chairman then brought before the meeting the following requests for
waivers:
70-6-17 5630 Westbrook Road - Lot 2 Block 5 Westbrook Addn. (map 11) Ben Hur
The pe�ition is for the waiver of Section
3.07 (3a) for .55► off the required sideyard setback of 15� �o a
sideyard setback of 11�.J�5r from the 1ot line ta the
Southeast corner of the existing house on1.y.
Ben Hur was present to make the reqt�est for the waiver. He e�lained that
the house was built in 1956 �y Pau1 Enghauser.
Don Fanzen moved to approve the waiver of .55� off the required sideyard
setback of 15� ta a sideyard setback of 1�.�5� from the lot line to the South-
east corner of the existin.g house only. Tt was seconc�ed by Mort Silverman, and
carried unanimously.

The pe�ition is for the waiuer of Section
3.07 (1) for ,5� off the reguired fr�nt yard setback of 35� to
a front yard setback of 31�..5i from the 1ot line to the
Northwest corner of the existing house only.
Dennis Madison was present to make the request for the waiver, He
explained that the house was built in 1958 b� N. E. Construction.
LeRoy Anderson rnoved to approve the petition for .5T off the required
fron.t yard setback o� 35� to a front yard setback of 31�.,�� from the lot lin.e
to the Northwest corner of the existing house only. It taas seconded by �
Mort Silverman and carried unan.imously.

The petition i.s for the waiver of Section
3.07 (1) for 8.75t off the required front yard setback distanee of
35t to a front yard setback distance of 26.25� ta the
proposed double attached garage.
Terry Burns was pres�nt to make the request for the waiver.
The Board reviewed the previous discussion c�n this waiver as i-� was firs�
proposed at the i�ay 12, 1970 Board of Zoning Appeals meeting. It was pointed out
that -�he appealant �aa.s now asking for 1' less than the original request. During
the discussion the Board -�ovched on the subject of future widenin� of Olympia St. ,
the layout of the �xisting house, the ability to park cars on �he shorter drive-
way that would b�� created with this waiver, and the narrowness of the existing lo�t.
A1so, it was pointed out that the existin� dw�lling built k�� Dale Melby in

Don ��ranzen maved to �rant the waiver of �.7.�� off the required 3�' setback
to a setback distance of 26.25� from. the North property line to the proposed
attached garage on1y. Tt was seconded b�r Mort Silverman, and carried with
� yeas and 1 nay.
Then Mr. Silverman moved to �;rant the waiver of Sectian 3.0? (1) for .3�t
off the required setback distance of 35� to a setback distance of 3�-.65� from the
�Jest property line to the existin� dwelling on1y. It was seconded by Don r'ranzen
and carried u.nanimously.
