11-09-93 BZA Minutes 1315 I MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE GOLDEN VALLEY BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS November 9, 1993 The regular meeting of the Golden Valley Board of Zoning Appeals was held Tuesday, November 9, 1993, at 7:30 P.M. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 7800 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, Minnesota. I The following Board members were present: Chairman, Larry Smith Herb Polachek Emilie Johnson Mahlon Swedberg Mike Sell Gary Johnson, Acting Secretary/Staff Liaison The first order of business was approval of the minutes of a regular meeting held September 14, 1993, copies of which had previously been distributed to the Board. Note, there was no meeting for October, 1993. Emilie Johnson asked to have the minutes regarding Item 93-9-34, 2412 Parkview Boulevard be -mended to read "Emilie Johnson asked Mr. Beneke if he had considered building the deck between the house and garage with only a small walkway in the setback". The Board concurred with the proposed amendment and Herb Polachek moved to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held September 14, 1993, as amended. Second by Mike Sell and upon vote carried unani- mously. 93-11-39 (Map 1) Rp.sidential 2500 McNair Drive Kurt and Julie Hubbs The petition is for waiver of Section: 11.21 Subd. 7 C (2) side setback, for 5.30 feet off the required 11.25 feet from the west lot line to a distance of 5.95 feet to the house as it now exists at its closest point. Purpose of the waiver petition is to correct an existing non-conforming setback so a fully con- forming addition and deck may be added. The petition was in order and consent obtained from adjacent properties. Kurt and Julie Hubbs were present. No others were in attendance. Acting Secretary, Gary Johnson, provided a staff review. Hubbs explained that he wanted to start construction this week and he went over his construction experience background. 1316 Board of Zoning Appeals Page 2 November 9, 1993 I Mahlon Swedberg asked Mr. Hubbs how long he has lived in the house. Mr. Hubbs said that he had recently moved there in May. Mahlon Swedberg noted that the distance of 5.95 feet requested is common to other houses in the neighborhood and would not be out of character to the neighborhood. Larry Smith noted that the waiver is for an existing house and that the deck and addition meets all required setbacks. Mahlon Swedberg moved to approve the waiver as on the agenda, second by Herb Polachek and upon vote carried. There being no further business to come before the Board, it was upon motion, second and vote to adjourn at 8:00 P.M.
