The regular meeting of the Goldzn Va11ey Village P�:anning Commiss3on
was called to orcler at the Village Hall at 8:10 P.M. Thursday, March
10, 1955• Members present were: �wald, Rangland,Loughland, Bor�he�t,
Patterson, Lynch, Kost, Palmer, Peterson.-
Mr. lknderson appsered on h3s request for approval of his plat at
�uluth �treet and Douglas Drive. Mr. Ogard explained that this
approval hinged on the vacating of St. Croix Avenue. Mr. Palmer a.nd �
Mr. �wald speaking for the highway committee recommended th¢ vacatinge
of �t. Croix.
Mx� Albright who o�ms the property tothe west of the proposed plat asked
if �uluth-�tree� wotil.d be put through her property at this time.
She was told that Du.luth Street would not be put ths� until she requested
it. �
Lynch moved preliminaiy approval of plat with provision to make the
three interior north-south streets between blocks 1 and 2, 2 a.�d 3,
3,and !�, of 50 foot widths in order to provide an additional 30 feet �
for the westerly most road in the plat so as to save several large
trees along the lot lines. Further more, St. Croix from Duluth to
Douglas Drive be vacated. Seconded by Loughland, Mvtion carried. �
Mr. Fred Jones appeared on the plat of Hampshire Oaks Second Addition
Mr. Lynch moved to refer the plat to the plat committee. P3.1mer �
seconded, motion carried. �
Mr. Borcher� asked Mr. Kost of if there was a.ny recommendation for a
change in the name 1eFairview Hi11s Road'r. Mr. Kost and other members
of the co�nission suggested to Mr. Jones that he attempt to find a
more su�,table name. �
Mr. lUord�trom a�. h3s attorney, Mr. Berglund appeared regardinglots
1!y and 15 of Block 1�, McNai�.Manor, I�rr. Ogard e�lained that the
gaxage taa.s located on the property ahead oF the rear of the house
and so violated the village ordinances. Mr. Nordstrom reQuested .
tna,t he be permitt�d to move the garage to within � feet of the
back 1ot line which would mean that the garage raould "sti11 be 3
feet ahead of the rear house 13ne. A wa.iver of this 3 ffet was
requestr�d by Mr. Nordstrom.
�°. Loughla.�d moved and Mr. Palmer seconcied that p:��m.i���.on be
given to move th3s garage to a po�nt 5 f�et n.orthwes� of � line
dividing the sout�heast 75 feet from the �orthwest por�ion of lots
1!� and 1s, Block !�, McNair Manor. Motion carried.

Mr. Ogard pr�sented the plat of West Valley a.�ter which
eonsiderable discussion ensued among the commission merabers
• regarding this p1at. No formal action w-as taken.
Mr. Pa.t�terson reported an the reguested haa�dshfp-ti�aiver of \�
Dr. Shimek. He requested a rear lot waiver to � f¢et sinc� . �
this 1ot is txiangular and also undersized in axea.
'After �o�isiderabl¢ diseussion it was agreed thateat the time
Dr. Shimek desires a building permit he should re-sc�bmit thfis
, to the plasining commission. No motion was made.
Mr. Borchert read a letter. from Mr. Davenport. No action was
taken.
