REGULAR MEETING OF THE
GOLDEN VALtEY PLANNING COMMISSION
August 11 , 19b6
A regul�r meeting of the G�lden Valley Planning Commissi�n was
held �n Thursday, August 11 , 1966, at 7 : 30 p.m. at the G41den
Valtey Civic Center , 7800 G�lden Valley Rs�ad, G�lden Valtey,
Minnescia. Vice Chairman presided and the following members were
present: Rauglar►d, Swedberg, Christiansen, Bruch, Gisvotd, Penn�ck,
Br�wn, Bies, Garlson. A1so present were Ulstad, Schmid � Jordahl .
MOVED by Pennock, seconded by Christiansen to approve the minutes
with the noted correcti�ns , carried unanimously.

ZONING
A. VOLP CONSTRUCTION CO ( 12 ) 1109 Zane Avenue North
C�mmittee member Bies read the following report :
"The petitioner is requesting rezflning fr�m Open Develflpment to
Light Industrial , Discussion to�k place with the proponents,
regarding parking, facing of the building and landscaping of the
surr�unding area . The proponents of this particular building
suggested that it would be acceptable to them to screen and face the
building in the manner which the Village authorities would so
designate. Regarding parking , it was brought to the attention of
the proponents that a minimum 125 spaces were required and that the
plan as shown to the c�mmittee had adequate area for these required
spaces. With this in mind, the Zoning Committee unanim�usly suggest�
t� the Planning C�mmission approval of this rezoning .��
MOVED by Br�wn, sec4nded by Pennock t� recommend approval of this
rezoning carried unanim�usly.
6. RIDANL CONSTRUCTION, INC ° ( i8) 7700 Wayzata Boulevard
Corrnnittee member Bies read the fo� iflwing report :
'�The petitioner requests rezoning from Residential to Commercial .
It was brought tQ the attention �f the prc�ponents �f this parti -
cular rezoning that the setbacks as shown on the site plan were
acceptable except for appr�ximately two or three feet �f the
n�rthwesfi corner of the buitding. It was als� brought to their
attention that the r�umber of parking spaces required was not shown
�n the drawing; however, the site contained adequate space for the
reauired parking . Discussion followed with the proponents regarding
facing of the building , landscaping of the surrounding areas, and
parking facilities . There was �ls� some discussion as to what the
proper zoning requests sh�uld be and the proponents decided that a
Commercial request sh�uld be made and this is so entered into the
minutes . The Committee in reviewing this proposed rezoning felt that
this area, which is presently z�ned Residential should not be rezoned
ta this heavier use , A motion was made and passed unanimously to
deny the requested rezoning. ��
MOVEu BY Pennock, seconded by Swedberg to accept the Committee
• report, carried unanimously.

C . ROSS A CRAIG ( 11 ) 2120 Daugtas Drive N�rth
Committee Member Bies read the following rep�rt :
��The petitioner requests rez�ning frflm Residential to Business �
Professionat Office. Discussion ensued with Mr . Craig regarding the
future of the severai l�ts within this area. Mr . Craig presented
his ptans ta the Committee showing the tocation of his bui1ding ,
size �f the lot , etc,
It w�s brought ta his attenti��n that the setbacks as sh�wn were
acceptable and that the parking requirement for this particular
sized building was app��o�amately 25 spaces. It was ' noted that
the site contained the required space for the 25 parking stalts .
Mr , Craiq presented the C�mmittee with a rezs�ning petiti�n signed
by the pr�perty �wners in the surrounding area, This was placed
in his file, The discussion c ontinued between Mr . Craig and the
C�mmittee regardir�g the devel �pment of the l�t in questi�n.
The G�mmittee wished to bring to the attention of the Pianning
Cc�mmission that this area was th�roug h1y reviewed by them in
�ebruary and als� again in June, 1966. It was rec�mmended at this
time that the area al�ng Brunswick Avenue remain Residential in
nature and als� al�ng D�uglas Drive north of the Witzig property,
It was suggested by the Planning Commission at this time, that
double bungat�ws w�uld be an acceptable tand use in this area.
It was als� menti�ned at the Planning Commission meeting that
the tand �wners in this area get together with the Village Staff
and w�rk out a future site ptan f�r this area. With this in mind,
the Z�ning C�mmittee recommends that the requ�st fc�r Business
and Pr�fessi �nal Office be denied. ��

rep�rt carried with 8 yea , 1 nay.
ORDINANCE
A. REVISION OF PARKING IN SETBACK aREAS OF THE ZONING CODE
The Ordinance Committee presented a draft to the Planning
C�mmission , however , after �onsiderable discussion, it was returned
t� the committee f�r further study.
