A regular meeting of the Golden Valley Flanning Commission was
held on Monday, July 14 , 1969, at the Civic Center, 7800 Golden
Valley Road, Golden Valley, Minnesota, at 8 P.M. Chairman
Christiansen presided and the following were present : Planner
Shcmid, Vice-chairman Franzen and Commissioners Swedberg,
Neuman, Lundsgaard, �loran and Daly. Members absent : Johnston,
Swanson.
1 . APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Moved by Franzen, seconded by Swedberg,
unanimously carried approve the minutes of June 23, 1g69, as mailed.
2. REZONING: Council initiated action concerning the P B Olson
Property - Bonnie Lane and Golden Valley Road
Open Development to Residential
The Planner briefly reviewed past action for the Commission and
those property owners present . He noted that the owner of the
property in question has asked that the matter be deferred. This
request was discussed by the Commission.
MQVED by Daly, seconded by Franzen, to recommend that the
following described tract of land b� zoned from Open Development
to Residential Single Family.
DE�CRIPTI0�1; That parcel of land lying North of Golden Valley
Road, West of the Great Northern Railroad tracks , South of 26th Avenue
North extended and East of the East line of the Cumberland Hills
3rd Addition and the Mary Hills Addition, all in Golden Valley,
Minnesota. Discussion followed and the question was called. The
Chairman called for the vote and the motion carried unanimously .
Mr. James Moe, 3820 Bassett Creek Drive and Mr. Stan Mrosak,
390o Bassett Creek Drive, spoke in behalf of the assembled
residents .
The Cornmissxon instructed the Planner to review proposed land
uses , north of 26th Avenue in Robbinsdale .
3. REZONINGt Dr. Robert Hoover, Mr. Ed Jordan
Lot 52, Auditors Subdivision No. 360
Residential to Business and Professional Office
The Planner noted that the proponent has completed correctly the
necessary petition forms . Dr. Hoover, Mr. Jordan and the architect
for the pro�ect, Mr. John Lackens, were present to ans�ver questions .
Dr. Hoover submitted copies of a petition signed by surrounding
property owners, expressing agreement with the proposed rezoning
changes .
MOVED by Moran, secanded by Franzen to recommend approval of
the rezoning request . The Commission expressed concern of zoning
,�ust Lot 52. Discussed possibility of zoning Lots �16,b7 ,48,4g,
50,51 at the same time . Commissioner Moran withdrew his motion
and Commissioner Franzen withdrew his second. MOVED by Moran,
seconded by Franzen to instruct the Staff to contact the property
owners and report back to the Commission at its next meeting on
their reaction to zoning Lots 46-52 to B & P 0. Motion carried
unanimously.

4 . REPORT ON PLANNING SURVEY:
The Village Planner, Qtto Schmid, noted that a preliminary report
would be submitted August 11, 1969, to the Planning Commission,
showing the results of the Planning Survey .
5 . GENERAL:
The Commission decided to hold its annual dinner on August 6th.
In addition, the Commission decided that , at that time, they will,
in mass , walk the area between Boone Avenue and Winnetka Avenue,
along Bassett Creek.
Member Swedberg asked that the ordinance dealing with performance
standards for double garages be reviewed. He noted that many
waivers dealing with expansion of single garages to doubles are
being heard by the BZA. He Suggested that a definite policy be
initiated concerning this matter.
Member Franzen asked the Safety Council to review the semifore
cycle on Medicine Lake Road and Douglas Drive .
