06-23-80 PC Minutes ��� Minutes of the Golden Valley Pianning Commission June 23, 1980 A regular meeting of the Ptanning Commission was held at 7:30 p.m. on June 23, 1980, in tfie Council Chambers at the Civic Center, 7800 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, Minnesota. Chairperson Eastes called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Those present were Commissioners : Eastes, Forster, Hughes, Potachek, Sehlin and Thompson. Commissioners Edstrom, Specktor and Levy were absent. I . Approval of the Minutes - June 9, 1980 It was moved by Thompson, seconded by Polachek and carried unanimousty to approve the June 9, 1980 Planning Commission Minutes. II . Report on the HRA Meeting - June 10, 1980. Dave Thompson and Bill forster represented the Ptanning Commission at the last HRA meeting. They briefed the Commission on the meaning of "conflict of interest" regarding the Valley Square Commission. III . Report on the City Council Meetin - June 16, 1980. Herb Polachek attended the meeting and briefly explained the use of a consent agenda. Don Hughes will represent the Planning Commission at the next City Council Meeting on July 7, 1980. IV. 6et Date for Informat Pubtic Hearing - Rezonin9 APPLICANT: Bob Martinson LOCATION: Just west of the White House on T.H. 55 REQUEST: Rezone from "Commercial" to "Terminal Warehouse" zoning district. Bob Martinson, the proponent was not present. Martin Farrell suggested that the Planning Commission set tF�e date for the Informal Public Hearing for July 14, 1980. It was then moved by Thompson, seconded by Polachek and unanimousty carried to set July 14, 1980 as the informal public hearing date. V. Informal Public Hearing - Rezoning APPLICANT: L. N. Lundstrom LOCATION: 1725 N. Lilac Drive REQUEST: Rezone from "M-1 (Muttiple Dwelling)" to "Business and Professional Office Space" The proponent requested that his request be postponed until the revised "Business and Professional Office" section of the zoning ordinance be rewritten and adopted by the City Council . x 7!� .-, _ � Page 2 Minutes of the Golden Valley Planning Commission June 23, 1980 VI . Distribution of "Business and Professional Office Zoning District" - First Draft Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance. Mike Miller distributed copies of the revised section of the ordinance and it will be reviewed by the Planning Commission at the July 14, 1980 meeting. VII . Response to the T.H. 12 Subcommittee Members of the Planning Commission were requested to attend the T.H. 12 Commission meeting on June 17, 1980. Sue Eastes explained the purpose of the meeting and what the T.H. 12 Commission expected from the Planning Commission. They requested that the Planning Commission address the following three questions: 1 . What advantages do you see occurring to Golden Valley if the current MnDOT proposal is adopted? 2. What disadvantages do you see occurring to Golden Valley if the current MnDOT proposal is adopted? 3. We all have been forced to react to the MnDOT proposal . However, if you had the option o�f designing the highway, what plan woutd you propose and how would it differ from the current MnDOT proposal? Jody Seh1in expressed concern about MnbOT's presentations to various communities and suggested that the Commission answer these questions in the form of a position paper.
