07-28-80 PC Minutes �,��� Minutes of the Golden Valley Planning Commission �uly 28, 1g8o A regutar meeting of 'the Planning Commission was held at 7:30 p.m. on July 28, 1980, in the Council Chambers at the Civic Center, 780D Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, Minnesota. Chairperson Eastes called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Those present were Commissioners: Eastes , Edstrom, Forster, Thompson and Sehlin. Commissioners Polachek, Specktor and Hughes were absent. Atso present were Mike Miller, Planning and Redevetopment Coordinator and Martin Farrell , Assistant City Planner. I . Approval of the Minutes - July 14, 1980. It was moved by Thompson, seconded by Forster and carried unanimously to approve the Juty 14, 1980 Planning Commission Minutes. II . Report on the City Council Meetinq - July 21 , ' 1980. Sue Eastes represented the Planning Commission at the meeting. She stated that both the Bury � Carlson and tfie Hennepin County rezonings were approved by the City Council . III . Report on the July 15, 1980 HRA Meeting. Dave Thompson represented the Planning Commission at the NRA Meeting. He briefly exptained the agenda and informed the Ptanning Commission of the status of the proposed Section 8 housing pro;ject. IV. Set Date for Informal Public Hearing - P.U.D. 26 Mike Miller suggested setting August 11 , 1980 as the date for the lnformal :Public Hearing for general plan approval of P.U.D. 26. It :was moved by Thompson, seconded by Sehtin and carried unanimously to set the date for August ll , 1980. Ron Edstrom questioned when the propasal will go to the Human Rights Commission. He requested staff investigate the Human Rights involvement. V. Appearance of City Mana,Qer. Jeffi Sweet canceled his appearance before the Ptanning Commission. Sue Eastes appointed Herb Potachek to the Housing Poticy Subcommittee. If Commissioner Polachek cannot attend the meeting, then Commissioner Thompson stated that he would attend the meeting. Ron Edstrom then questiondd the status of the Ewald Dairy report. He requested staff to investigate this problem further. He also requested that the City Council be informed of this problem. Work Session Mike Miller exptained the new ordinance and how it differs from the existing Business and Professional Office Zoning District. The ordinance was then discussed further and a few changes were made. Mike Miller suggested that staff contact the American Planning Association's Planning Advisory Service for more reference material . The Planning Commission did not take any action on the ordinance and decided to discuss this section of the ordinance further at the August ll , 1980 meeting.
