1. JOINT MEETING WITH PLANNING, ENVIRONMENTAL AND OPEN SPACE AND
RECREATION COMMISSIONS - COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE
11. CALL TO ORDER OF THE OPEN SPACE AND RECREATION COMMISSION
Sandler called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
III. ROLL CALL
Present: Roger Bergman, Jim Johnson, Kelly Kuebelbeck, Bob Mattison, Roger McConico, Anne Saffert,
Jerry Sandler, Jim Vaughan, Rick Jacobson, Director of Parks and Recreation; Sheila Van Sloun,
Park and Recreation Administrative Assistant; and Veronica Anderson, SEH Consultants, Inc.
Absent: Tom Zins.
IV. AGENDA CHANGES OR ADDITIONS
Additions to the agenda:
- Youth Athletic Association Survey
- Lions Park Parking
V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES — June 25, 2007
MOTION: Moved by Bergman and seconded by Mattison to approve the June 251h meeting minutes.
Motion carried unanimously.
VI. ADELINE LANE NATURE AREA
Jacobson said city staff would like input from the Commission on what to name the area. Many ideas were
discussed.
The Commission agreed they like the idea of a large boulder used as a sign, versus the current wooden city
park signage.
Maintenance concerns were discussed. Jacobson said the boulder would be maintained by city staff.
MOTION: Moved by Mattison and seconded by Kuebelbeck to propose the area be named Adeline
Nature Area. Motion carried unanimously.
MOTION: Moved by Mattison and seconded by Bergman to propose the use of a boulder for signage.
Motion carried unanimously.

VII. COMPREHENSIVE PLAN REVIEW
The Commission continued reviewing the Comprehensive Plan and made necessary changes and updates,
which will be reflected in an updated version.
VI11. YOUTH ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION SURVEY
Mattison updated the Commission on the meeting with Little League.
He also distributed a list of preliminary conclusions from all surveys done with the Youth Sports Associations.
Jacobson said the results could be added to the Park Master Plan.
Sandler suggested city staff meet with all the Athletic Associations together to discuss field needs.
IX. LIONS PARK PARKING LOT
Jacobson said the city has been receiving complaints from residents that live near Lions Park regarding the
parking. He said city staff has discussed the issue and the Police Chief sent a letter to the residents about
patrolling the area more frequently, especially during sport events when the parking becomes a problem.
Sandler suggested near by agencies allowing parking in their lots.
Kuebelbeck suggested a city policy that allows parking on only one side of the street.
Jacobson said Athletic Associations will be supplying sign that direct people as to where parking is
permissible. He also said alternative/additional sites for overflow parking will be looked at.
X. ADJOURNMENT
MOTION: Moved by McConico and seconded by Johnson to adjourn at 9:30 p.m. Motion carried
unanimously.

unanimously.
