City of Golden Valley- 200 alley200 Brookview Pkwy. . Golden Valley, MN 55426-1364 Dear Rick, I completed your winter aerial deer survey on February 23rd. Snow conditions were-not ideal, but they were actually a little better than I expected. - The ,deer in upland sites-were quite visible and I''M' confident that I saw most., if not all, of them. I'm less'confident, however, of the numbers of deer.in.the cattail marshes. They were very difficult to see 3n the marshes, and we routinely wentdown and buzzed the tops of the cattails in an effort to chase them up. We saw quite a few'deer by doing that, but I can't be sure we saw all "of them. Fortunately, there isnot a great deal of cattail marsh withinyour survey area..There were 26 deer in the west survey area, 35 deer in the'east survey area, and only 7 deer in Theodore Wirth Park.. There were 19 deer located in Robbinsdale just east of the Golden Valley boundary. Please call me (763-694-7848) or email me(ccarter(Dthreeriversparkdistrict.org) if you have any, questions regarding the survey. Sincerely, _ AllAk. Carol Carter Wildlife Specialist cc.'
