6-8-1949MINUTES OF REGULAR R°EETING PARK BOARD VILLAGE OF GOLDEN VALLEY June 8, 1949 The Dark Board of the Village of Golden Valley met for their regular monthly meeting at the Village Hall at 8:00 p.m. on June 8, 1949. The meeting was at- ROLL CALL tended by Mr. Does, president, Mrs. Arms, Vice - President, and Mr. Boyer, Secretary. Minutes of the stay 11 meeting were read and approved. MINUTES Mrs. Arms offered to investigate cost and availability of park benches and source of supply through the BENCHES Minneapolis park Board. She also was advised to ob- tain information on the advisability of seeding after SEEDING July and the best time for seeding between July and October. i!r. 7inslow does, being a member of the planning; Board, was to recommend that the Village road crew check the viest border of Belmont park in an effort DRAINAGE to ascertain the advisability of ditching for drainage purposes, the southwest corner being low. The subject of putting culverts under Brookview and draining direct to the creek was also to be investi- gated. The secretary, J. J. Boyer, was authorized to place an order with the J. E. Porter Cornoration, Ottawa., Illinois, for one No. 38 combination playground set, EQUIPYTNT including the $250.00 Commercial Club check. This was moved by Mr. Yoes and seconded by mrs. Arms. Move was made by Mrs. Arms and seconded by vr. Boyer that, barring legal technicalities, the Park Board will stand one-half, but not to exceed 1125.00, for playground equipment to be erected in a section of Valley View park located in Glenview Terrace, Golden VALLEY VITW Valley. The Village lawyer, Stanley Kane, was to PARK investigate the legal technicalities that may be en- countered with the Minnea.polis park Board, as the park property is owned by the Minneapolis Park Board. SFr. Kane is to advise us. Commercial Club has advised that they have additional funds which they will donate for use in purchasing FUNDS playground equipment in Valley View Park. Attached— Recommendation of Director o Recrea- tion and Superintendent -8/12/47 116 Minneapolis, Minn., August 1 To the Honorable Board of Park Cc aioners: i Gentlemen: Your Standing Committees on Playgrounds and Entertaihment and Finance, acting jointly, to whom was re- ferred the requests of the Glenview Ter- race Improvement Association and the Vil- lage of Golden Valley for permission to establish a playground area in Valley View Park, respectfully report that considera- tion has been given thereto and to a report of the Superintendent thereon, and now recommend that the Glenview Terrace Improvement Association and the Village of Golden Valley be given a permit to use Valley View Park, subject to the following terms and provisions: 1. That any improvement made to said property or any facilities placed thereon shall be according to plans and specifi- cations approved by the Superintendent of Parks. 2. That the use of th6 grounds ahall be for the use of the general public and not restricted to any one village or city. 3. That the use of the grounds shall not be inconsistent to the laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations of this Board. 4. That any liability for damages to any person or property by reason of the use of said property shall be borne by the Petitioners. 5. This Board offers to the petitioners the opportunity of co-ordinating its r.crea- tion program with that of this depart- ment insofar as it concerns the use of literature and attendance of playground instructors at the staff meetings of this department, and similar services as the Superintendent of Parks may direct, in- cluding the actual supervision of play- ground instructors employed by the Vil- lage of Golden Valley, by members of the recreation supervisory staff of the Minneapolis Park Department. S. The Board of Park Commissioners re- serves the right to revoke the authority or permission hereby granted whenever in its opinion, public interest of the City of Minneapolis demands said revoca- tion, and the. Board of Park Commis- sioners shall be the sole judge of such necessity. Thirty days' written notice shall be given the Village of Golden Val- ley by the Board for such revocation.
