GO L07N VALLEY PARK BOARD
NOVEMBER 81 1950
The regular monthly meeting of the Golden Valley Park Board
was held November 8, 1950, at the home of the Secretary,
1515 Alpine Pass, the Village Hall being used for a meeting
of the Village Council that evening. The meeting was
called to order at 8:00 n.m. by President Bies. All mem-
bers were present. Minutes of the September and October
meetings were read and aprroved.
Copy of a letter to Mr. F. K. Dhainin, assistant surerinten-
dent of Minneanolis Parks, was read reporting what had been
done by the Golden Valley Ps,rk Board in the Glenview Terrace
District in northeast Golden Valley upon Minneapolis Park
property and thanking them for their permission to use a
portion of this property for the erection of playground
ecuinment.

A discussion was held regarding establishing a, nursery area
in the south portion of HaroldAvenue park pronerty to plant NURSERY
tree seedlings for future use on nark vronerty and along
Golden Valley streets.
Discussion was held regarding the prospects of organizing
swimming instruction classes among the school children of
Golden Valley, and the obtaining of bus service either S"PIWIING
from the school board or from the Vedicine Lake Bus Comnany CLASSES
for these students. It is nronosed to hold these classes
a.t Wirth park, if consent of the Minnea.00lis Park BOasd
can be obtained. The Park 33oard will endeavor to get the
cooneration of the Parent and Teachers' Associations in
this project.
Mr. Boyer reported that the Commercial Club had given a DONA-
check to the Village Treasurer in the amount of 9265.00 to TION
ray for the eauipment erected in the Glenview Terrace area.
The Secretary was instructed to write to the president of
the Corwnercial Club in regard to the best place to erect ?30C'�EY
the hockey rink bang boards. The pond used last year has RINK
since pretty well dried un and does not look suitable for
use this year.
Mr. Ries left at 8:50 o.m. and the meeting was continued
by the other two members, who recommended that the Council
be asked to reappoint qtr. Bies for a new term starting
January 1, 1951.
There being no further business, meeting adjourned at 9:45 P.M.
