Village of Golden Valley
April - 1955
On April 131955 the Golden Valley Park Board met in regular session. Present were
Stockman, Gustafson and Ostroot.
Mr. Wallace Gustafson was appointed to fill the vacancy of Harley H. Johnson who
resigned as he was unable to serve.
After the meeting opened, Mr. William H. Johnston, president of the Golden Valley
Recreational Association an, affiliate of the Suburban Recreational Association,
came to tell the Board about the program for the summer, and to indicate the parks
to be used, some of the facilities that would be needed, and requested assistance in
providing a part of the leadership: It was decided to provide the balancecf the full-
ti.me leadership of a second person at an expense of ,x.00. In order to provide better
development of the various parks, it was agreed that the responsibility would be divided
among the board members for parks within their own areas consulting from time to

The plans furnished by Mr. Andreason for Scheid Park were reviewed and found very suitable.
It was decided to provide about 1vU00.00 for a well if necessary. The neighbor residents
will be contacted and any assistance by them will be accepted.
We voted to accept the well as complete in Papoose Park and requisitioned a check in
payment of the contract.
It was also decided to order the 2 horse-pov+erMeyers submersible pump at the low price
quoted. This pump will provide 50 gallons per minute.1n addition to providing adequate
water for park purposes it will be valuable for the Fire Department.
The interest of the residents of the Glendale Park was recognized and a proposed plan
was ordered from the architect, to be available for development of the park, as soon as
possible.-

Standard plans for park shelters to be built on a unit development basis, and also standard
plan for park tables were discussed, and it was agreed to request suggestions from the
architect so neighborhoods or groups desiring to provide facilities would know what the
requirements are, and the approximate cost.
The report of the current balance of the budget was received, and it was noted that the
Village Office will provide current figures from month to month.
