Village of Golden Valley

The Park Board of the Village of Golden Valley met at its regular monthly
meeting at the temporary Village Hall, Thursday, May 15, 1958, at 7:45 P.M.
Present were Stockman, Byrnes,Ostroot, Consultant Corwin andRecreational
Director Reed. Recording Secretary Hrs. Sullivan was absent, and the
minutes of the previous meeting were not read.
Report of Recreational Director Glen Reed: T�Ir. Reed has hired all five
employees. The 7ork Agreements for Ester Hammen and Liflanna Willey were
submitted for the signature of the Part: Board. He explained his program.,
his activities and location of the play areas. He stated his swimming
program will be on Wednesdays at l irth Park beach. He, also, stated he has
a special events baseball clinic lined up June 7, in the Golden Valley High
School with Dick Siebert, University of M nnesota Baseball Coach* We set
a luncheon meeting with Glen's playground leaders for Tuesday noon, May 20.
P.4r. Stockman requested that pictures and personality sketches of leaders be
publicized.
Mr, Stockman reviewed, and the Board discussed, meeting with the Planning
Commission regarding establishment of a policy for Park Property inclusion
in new plats. 14r. Corwine will check on similar policies in St. Louis Park,
Edina, Brooklyn Center and etc. Mr. Stockman is to arrange a definite date
of meeting with the Planning Commission.
A request had been sent to, Park Board requesting the use of so-called "Crandle's
Pond" which is on North Angelo, one block South of Golden Valley Road, to be
used for park purposes. Mr. Corvine was asked to look into this area, and
report to the Board.
There being no further business, motion was made to adjourn the meeting at
8:45 P.M. The motion was seconded and carried. A Bond Issue discussion
