November 10, 1961
The annual VILLAGE ELECTION will be held on December 5, 1961. The polls open at
7:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m.
Do Not Burn Leaves on Black -Top Streets. Village Ordinances make it unlawful to burn
any combustible material in any street and this must be enforced on black -top streets
since the degree of heat created weakens the surfacing and soon a "chuck -hole" appears.
Residents are notified to park cars off the streets during the winter to facilitate
snow plowing. This applies to "second cars" and cars "in storage', through the winter
as well as those in daily use. Snow removed from driveways, either by owners or hired
plows, is to be disposed of on the owner's property, and must not be deposited in
Village streets.
If you desire bituminous surfacing (black -top), curb and gutter or other street improve-
ments to be constructed in 1962, call the Engineering Department (LI 5-3781) and request
the petition form NOW! The closing date for accepting petitions will be early due to
the extra work on the Municipal Water System, and petitions received after the closing
date will not be considered for construction until 1963.
A new Ordinance governing the Municipal Water System was adopted by the Village Council
on November 7, 1961. Copies of this ordinance will be available at the Civic Center.
1962 Dog Licenses will be available after December 15, 1961. Village Ordinance
requires all dogs to be licensed.
