PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION OF
Village of Golden Valley
May 27th, 1963 7:00 P.M.
The Park and Recreation Commission of the Village of Golden Valley met Monday,
May 27th, 1963, instead of its regular last Thursday of each month, due to
Memorial Day. Board Members present: Dr. Ray Petersen, Chairman, John H.
Sullivan, Gravdon Ewald, and Max Green. Board Members absent: Laura Scheffler,
John W. Byrnes, and Ray Stockman. Also present: Mr. John L. Brenna, Director.
The meeting was called to order at 7:15 P.M. by Chairman Petersen. He then
called for approval of the minutes from the Regular Monthly Meeting of April 24th,
1963. Mr. John H. Sullivan moved the minutes be approved. Graydon Ewald
seconded the motion. The motion was carried.
At this time, Dr. Ray Petersen mentioned that letters of appreciation be sent
out to those who served on the Swimming Pool Committee. It was unanimous by all
that the committee did a commendable job. It should be noted here that the
Swimming Pool Bond Election for Golden Valley, did, on the 14th day of May, 1963
go down in defeat. 21175 votes were cast. 1511 - No. 644 - Yes.
Mr. Brenna then brought forth a resume of the current t'ark Development Program.
It is the hope that; Natchez, Woodlawn, Scheid, 'Wesley, Lions Club, and Yosemite
parks will be final graded, seeded, and trees planted by late fall.
Mr. Brenna then explained the coming summer program. The program will be much
like last ,year, with these exceptions: The Day Camp Program will be expanded,
and Tumbling and Trampoline lessons will be offered. The summer activities will
start June 17th, 1963.
A list of Summer personnal was handed to all board members for their approval.
Mr. Brenna mentioned the duties of each.
There being no further business:
Mr. Max Green moved for adjournment. Seconded by John H. Sullivan. The meeting was
adjourned at 10:00 P.M.
