6-26-1963Minutes of the Regular Monthly Meeting PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION OF Village of Golden Valley June 26th, 1963 7:00 P.M. No, The Park and Recreation Commission of the Village of Golden Valley met Wednesday, June 263 1963 instead of its regular last Thursday of each month, due to the Village Picnic. Board members present: Dr. Ray Petersen, Chairman, John H. Sullivan, John W. Byrnes, Max Green, Mrs. Laura Scheffler. Also present: John L. Brenna, Director. Board members absent: Graydon Ewald and Ray Stockman. The meeting was called to order at 7:15 P.M. by Chairman Petcrsen. Chairman Petersen then called for approval of the minutes from the May 27, 1963 meeting. Mr. John H. Sullivan moved the minutes be approved. Mr. Max Green seconded the motion. The motion was carried. At this time, Mr. Brenna gave a resume' of the Summer Program. Activities and those registered follow: SUMMER PROGRAM Playgrounds Tennis Swimming Instruction Day Camp Golf Instruction Men's Softball Girls Softball Boy's Softball Senior Citizens Swim Team Knothole Baseball Trampoline and Tumbling Seven Areas First Session First Session First Two Weeks Each Week Sixteen Teams Six Teams Six Teams Members Members Thirty-eight Teams Each Week Activities served on a Round Robin Basis: 900 Participants 60 It 200 It 81 it 80 It 320 It 90 ►► 90 it 55 9.35 30 570 it 30 it Arts and Crafts Each Week 400 " Storyteller in Library Each Week 30 " Puppet Trailer Each Week 450 " Picnic Kits Ten Rentals since season began At our July meeting, the Summer Program Supervisor will be present. PARK DEVELOPMENT At the present time, our total park acreage is 100.22 acres. This acreage is divided up among 14 parks as follows: South Tyrol 2.85 Acres New Tyrol 9.35 " Natchez 5 " Under Construction ScheiM 10.27 " Under Construction Woodlawn 4.71 " Under Construction Papoose 1.3 " Bassetts 7.6 " Yosemite 1.17 " Under Construction Lion's Club 20 " Under Construction Wesley 17.01 " Under Construction 208 PARK DEVELOPMENT (con't Fred Jones Elmo Ginkel Seeman Golden Oaks Total 10 Acres New 4.39 " New 4.62 " 1.95 " 100.22 Acres Mr. Brenna explained that all new construction is on schedule, and if no prolonged rain or other difficulty arises, we will, by late fall, be through with our first phase of construction.
