APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of March 30,1967 meeting were approved as mailed.
BROOKVIEW
Mr. Brenna showed displays of all articles that have been published
to date in the Golden Valley Suburban Press, Minneapolis Star, and
the Golden Valley Bulletin. He explained, by the use of large maps,
the status of the District meetings and the coffee parties. He
also showed by means of a large calendar those meetings that have
been scheubd to date. There have been meetings at the following:
Westview PTA, League of Women Voters, Little League, Senior
Citizens and the Optimists Club. There will be many more meetings
within the next month. There will be an Open House at Brookview
on Sunday, June 4th. There will beateenagers get together within
the next couple weeks. Every part of every committee is really
working hard and all seems to be going well.
BOND FUND
Mr. Brenna had a Bond Fund Balance Sheet for each Commission
member. Each park and each item was carefully gone over. The
reasons for the over -expenditures was due largely to fill situations
that presented themselves at the time, and it was felt that it
was wise to take advantage of the fill.
SCHEID FOOTBRIDGE
Mr. Brenna had four bridge plans and their estimated costs for all
the Commission members to review. Each plan was carefully
reviewed. The next step is an appointment with Hennepin County,
which will be in the near future.
POND AT GLENWOOD & HAMPSHIRE AVENUE SOUTH
There was a good representation from the neighbors in this area.
Mr. Brenna told them that there were Federal Funds available for
the entire ponding of a community, but that it might be most
feasible to look at it in total. The Park & Recreation Commission
was very sympathetic to the problem but felt that it might be best
to approach the Flood & Drainage Committee for help on their part.
Mr. Brenna will try to have this item placed on their agenda
for their next meeting. It was the consensus of the Commission
to set up a meeting with the Flood & Drainage Committee to
discuss the various ponds within the Village.
SUMMER PLANS
Mr. Brenna told of the present plans of moving the swimming
program to the Golden Valley Hi School Pool. The rent will be
$1,000. They will be able to have 60 children in the pool at
one time. Bob Lockwood will be in charge of the Knothole
program this summer. Harold Flolid will be in charge of the
Day Camp. Scheid Park will have full playground activities.
Glenview Terrace will have a backstop and Knothole baseball
and T -Ball. The personnel have been hired and everything is
set for the summer.
FENCE SCHEID PARK
Steve Halady has made a proposal for chain link fence for
Scheid Park in exchange for a piece of land. After considerable
discussion, it was MOVED by Byrnes, seconded by Oukrop to
accept the proposal of the fence concerning the exchange of
Village property for the fence and construction of the fence,
carried unanimously.
PARK TOUR IN JUNE
The Commission has planned to meet at the Village Hall at 6 p.m.
on June 29th to tour the Village Parks before the regular
