RESIGNATION - DR YAMAHIRO
The following letter was sent to the Park & Recreation Commission
from Dr. Yamahiro.
"This letter is submitted as an official resignation of my appointment
on the Golden Valley Village Park & Recreation Commission. As I hope
you understand, I do this with regret. As you well know, my interest
has and continues to be in the successful administration of the Park
& Recreation program of Golden Valley. My resignation is based on the
fact that I no longer am a resident of Golden Valley.
Congratulations on the acquisition of the Brookview Recreation area.
I would like to wish you and other members of the Board every success
during your tenure of office on the Park & Recreation Commission."
The Park & Recreation Commission requested Mr. Brenna to send a letter
thanking Dr. Yamahiro for his past efforts in behalf of the Village of
Golden Valley and most recently, his efforts toward the acquisition
of the Brookview Recreation Area. It is with much regret that this
resignation is accepted. MOVED by John Sullivan, seconded by
Dan Oukrop, carried unanimously, to accept Dr. Yamahire's resignation.
CORRESPONDENCE - FLOOD & DRAINAGE COMMITTEE
A letter was received from Mr. Ben West, Chairman of the Golden Valley
Flood & Drainage Committee regarding the Hampshire -Glenwood Avenue
area.
The gist of the letter stated that the area would provide little
storage for storm water and that they had no way to justify the
additional cost for purchase of the land above the cost of storm
sewer contruction.
The Park & Recreation Commission instructed Mr. Brenna to send a
letter to Mrs. Taylor explaining once again our position regarding
the area in question.
SCHEID PARK
Chairman Roelke asked Mr. Brenna to relate the present status of
the Scheid Park safe -access situation. Mr. Brenna related that he
had met with the Hennepin County Bridge Engineer and submitted four
pedestrian bridge proposals. It is Mr. Brenns's understanding that
the bridge engineer and his staff, after due study, will in turn
submit the compiled information forward to the Hennepin County
Board of Commissioners for their recommendation.
NAME MEMBERS TO STUDY COMMITTEE
After much discussion, it was the consensus of Board members present
that Gene Roelke, Dr. Pedersen and Stan Anderson be appointed as the
