VALLEY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
September 2, 1969
A special meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was held at
8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 1969 at the Brookview Community
Center, 8200 Wayzata Boulevard, Golden Valley, Minnesota. Chairman
Kahn presided, and the following members were present: Brand,
Fischer, Forster, Hammer, Herje, Jodan, Oukrop, Petersen , Tart,
Weisenberger. Members absent: Brown, Kelby, Sullivan. Also present:
John Brenna, Park and Recreation Director; Lloyd Roepke, Park Super -
intendant; Richard Rosland, Assistant Recreation Director.
BROOKVIEW SUB -COMMITTEE REPORT
I. At this time Mr. Tart brought forth his Sub -Committee recom-
mendation relative to Mr. Ross Stevens addendum to his original
letter of resignation. The original letter gave a termination date
of Novemberl, 1969; the addendum asked for a date of October 1, 1969
The Sub -Committee recommended a denial to the addendum.
It was then MOVED by Tart and seconded by Hammer to recommend to the
Village Council that the addendum to the Golf Professional's original
letter of resignation be denied. Motion carried.
II. At this time the Brookview Sub -Committee brought forth the
question of type of operation for the 1970 golf season. Mr. Tart
stated that the Sub -Committee, after much discussion, was divides
into two groups.
1. To hire a new golf professional.
2. To hire teaching professionals during the summer months, and
for the Village to operate the golf concessions.
After considerable discussion by Commission members present, it was
their recommendation to seek a new golf professional with abilities
commensurate to a public golf operation. If above is not possible,
it was then the Commission's recommendation that the Village hire
teaching professionals during the summer months, and that the Village
operate the golf concessions.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 11:00 p.m.
