VALLEY PARK AND RECREATION COMEISSION
January 29, 1970
A regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was held
at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 1970 at the Brookview
Municipal Community Center, 8200 Wayzata Boulevard, Golden Valley,
Minnesota. Chairman Kahn presided, and the following members
were present: Brand, Brown, Fischer, Forster, Hammer, Herje,
Jodan, Kelby, Oukrop, Petersen, Sullivan, Tart; Absent: 'Weisen-
burger. Also present: John Brenna, Park and Recreation Director.
MINUTES
Moved by Petersen, second by Brand, to accept the minutes of the
regular meeting of December 30, 1969 as mailed. Carried.
BROOKVII''W GOLF MANAGER
Mr. Brenna informed the Commission that he had interviewed 12
applicants for uhe position of Golf Operations Manager, and that
a decision would be forth coming at the next regular meeting.
BROOKVIEW SUB -COMMITTEE REPORT
Chairman Tart stated that he had no report at this time. A
meeting will be set up in the near future to discuss the Patron
Card Survey.
PARK SUB -COMMITTEE REPORT
Chairman Petersen stated that he had no report, but asked for
a meeting to be set for February 11th to investigate the diff-
erent types of play equipment that eventually would be installed
at the Brookview Community Park.
RECREATION SUB -COMMITTEE REPORT
Chairman Brown stated that he had no report, but asked for a
meeting to be called for February 11th to evaluate the 1969
Recreation Programs.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Mr. Brenna informed the Commission of the possible inclusion of
a golf driving and practice range. He stated that three fair-
ways would have to be moved in order to establish a driving and
practice range along the southern boundary of the golf course.
The cost would run about $3,400.00, and the work could be
accomplished in the fall of the year.
Members present discussed the above matter and thought it a
desirable addition to the golf course.
There being no further business, the meeti adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
