A special meeting of the Golden Valley Park and Recreation

at the Brookview Municipal Community Center, 8200 Wayzata
Boulevard, Golden Valley, Minnesota. Chairman Kahn presided,
and the following members were present: Brown, Fischer, Petersen,
Sullivan, Tart, Hammer, Oukrop, Weisenburger. Absent: Forster,
Herje, Brand, Jodan, Kelby. Also present: John Brenna, Park and
Recreation Director and Richard Rosland, Assistant Director.
The special meeting was called to seek recommendations on the
following subjects, prior to our regular meeting, because of a
time factor in sending releases to the community.

b. Reservation and Green Fee changes
c. Aquatennial Golf Tournament
d. Swimming Pool Fees and charges
BROOKVIEW SUB-CO1'21ITTEE REPORT
A. PATRON CARD CHANGES
At this time Chairman Tart stated that the Brookview Sub -Comm-
ittee met on Friday, February 13th and recommended the following
changes regarding the Patron Card.
1. That the price of the Patron Card remain the same for the
1970 golf season.
2. That the locker fees remain the same.
3. That we discontinue the Club storage and cleaning service,
but state in the Patron Card brochure that Patron Card
holders who purchase a locker may store their clubs in same.
After little discussion concerning the above three items, it was
MOVED by Tart, second by Brown that the Park and Recreation
Commission recommend the above to the Village Council.. Approved.

At this time Mr. Tart brought forth his Sub -Committee's recomm-
ended changes as follows:
1. A patron may reserve tee time 5 days in advance.
2. Non -patrons may reserve tee times 2 days in advance.
3. Ladies and Juniors may start play after 12:00 noon on
Saturdays and holidays, and after 10:00 a.m. on Sundays.
4. That the green fee structure be increased as follows:
18 holes Monday - Friday ---------------------- $3.50*
Saturday, Sunday, Holidays -------------------- $4.00*
9 holes Monday - Friday ----------------------- $2.50**
Twilight -------------------------------------- $2.50**
* less $1.00 for patrons
** less $ .75 for patrons
To the above, considerable discussion insued. In regard to item
No. 1, the change from the present 7 day advance to 5 days was
well taken by all present in that the 7 day advance gave those
who played on Saturday the possibility of tying up that partic-
ular tee time throughout the golfing season.
In regard to item No. 2 - the giving of 2 days advance for non -
patron card holders brought forth a great deal of discussion.
Mr. Brenna stated that giving a non -patron the privilege of
calling in for a tee time 2 days in advance was demeaning to the
patron card holder. He also stated that if we were to give a two
day advance, we should give it to non -patrons "residents only",
rather than just non -patrons which includes non-residents.
In regard to item No. 3, concerning Ladies and Juniors, there
was complete agreement.
In regard to item No.4, proposed green fee schedule, there was
again agreement by those members present.
To the above recommendations, Mr. Tart MOVED that the Park and
Recreation Commission recommend same to the Village Council for
their consideration for the 1970 golf season; second by Fischer,
carried with two members agreeing on every item except No. 2.
They favored a 1 day advance for non -patron card holders.
C. AQUATENNIAL GOLF TOURNAYIENT
At this time Mr. Brenna stated that the Aquatennial Committee has
asked if we would host the lst Aquatennial Golf Tournament during
this summer's annual Aquatennial Celebration. The Aquatennial
Committee asked for a Saturday date in July; and if granted, we
would want a guarantee of 51,300 on green fees, all concessions
and restrict tee times from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Mr. Brenna
also mentioned that aside from the good publicity derived, our
residents could enter the tournament as well.
After little discussion, Mr. Tart MOVED that the Park and
Recreation Commission recommend to the Village Council that we
