2-4-1971GOLDEN VALLEY PARK AND RECREATION BOARD REGULAR MEETING February 4, 1971 A regular meeting of the Golden Valley Park and Recreation Board was held on Thursday, February 4, 1971 at 7:30 p.m. at the Brook - view Municipal Community Center, 8200 Wayzata Boulevard, Golden Valley, Minnesota. Chairman Fischer presided, and the following members were present: Brand, Brown, Herje, Kelby, Petersen, Tart. Members absent: Hammer, Kahn. Also present were John Brenna, Park and Recreation Director; Richard Rosland, Assistant Director; Corey Bakken, Golf Operations Manager; Lois Schaaf, Secretary. MINUTES MOVED by Petersen, seconded by Tart to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 3, 1970 and the Special Meeting of December 14, 1970 as mailed. Carried. BROOKVIEW GOLF TOURNAMENT POLICIES: At this time, it was MOVED by Kelby, seconded by Tart to accept the policies as presented. Carried unanimously. 1. No closed tournaments on weekends - between Memorial Day and Labor Day. 2. Open entry tournaments will be selected by the Park and Recreation Board with Council agreement. 3. Application in writing for all tournaments must be made prior to February 15th of each year. 4. Acceptance of a tournament in a given year does not guarantee acceptance in subsequent years. 5. Organizations must meet financial responsibility standards: a. $6.50 per entrant per day or $1,000 per day, which ever is greater with $1,000 per day a minimum. b. Date of acceptance will be on or before March 15th 50% of minimum is payable by April 1st. c. Balance of minimum is due fourteen days prior to the event. d. 10/ of down payment will be forfeit to the Village of Golden Valley upon cancellation of tournament by applicant. e. The Village of Golden Valley will retain all concessions and rental rights. 6. A legal contract will be drawn by the Village attorney. Carried. Swimming: Season - single none 7,50 8.00 - family none 16.00 16.00 Daily Fee .50 .50 .50 Golden Valley Park and Recreation Board Regular Meeting February 4, 1971 SWIMMING POOL RECOMMENDATIONS Page -3- At this time Mr. Brenna brought forth his staff recommendations regarding the Brookview Swimming Pool. Mr. Brenna stated that a break-even situation at the swimming pool can be achieved by cutting certain inside personnel. He also stated that the basketroom atten- dants will be eliminated, and their duties will be taken over by the cashiers and off duty life -guards. The above, along with no major breakdown, should place us on a break-even basis. WINTER PROGRAM: At this time Mr. Rosland briefed the Park and Recreation Board on present programming. He stated that he is studying a fee schedule relative to all programs, and that he will bring forth the schedule for discussion at the April meeting. BROOKVIEW SHELTER BUILDING (PROGRESS REPORT) Mr. Brenna informed the Park and Recreation Board that we will open bids on the 24th of February for the Brookview Picnic Shelter. He stated that if a bid is let, the picnic shelter should be available for public use later this coming summer. COMMUNITY WINTER CELEBRATION At this time Mr. Brenna briefed the Park and Recreation Board on the forth -coming community winter celebration. Mr. Brenna explained that this year's celebration will be kept to a one day affair, and activities to a minimum. He also stated, if the celebration goes over will, that next year the celebration could be expanded.
