MINUTES

December 30, 1971 for filing.
5 ACRES -DULUTH AND PENNSYLVANIA
At this time, Chairman Herje asked for discussion from the residents
who were in attendance from the Duluth and Pennsylvania Avenue
neighborhood. She stated that no staff ideas would be brought forth
until those residents present had expressed their ideas.
Ideas Given -
Leave the site in its natural state.
Just sod and mow.
Tiny Tot Park.
Keep the wooded area.
Don't give it to school district # 281.
Develop in conjunction with the Environmental Science Center.
The consensus of opinion was that the Village should retain the
site for park purposes. It was also the consensus that the area
be left as natural as possible with -the emphasis on tiny tots for the
neighborhood.
At this time, Mr. Brenna explained to the residents present that
Hampshire Park is the playfield for their quadrant of the community,
and that the site in question would serve as a neighborhood park as
Seeman Park does to the 'south.
Mr. Brenna then showed a proposed plan where in the site would be
left as natural as possible with the inclusion of a tot area, a
walkway through the park that would connect the park with Hampshire
Park by the use of some minor residential streets. The proposal
also showed tennis courts. Mr. Brenna stated that his placement of
tennis courts on the site was because of a lack of room at Hamshire
Park and the need for a tennis court in the quadrant.
