Rosemary Thorson, Chairman of the Trails Committee, stated that
there was some disagreement among members of the Trails Committee
on this area, in that some felt the area in question was not
vital to the Trails system, also the area was very close to some
private property, and that the neighbors felt that a trail would
bring litter and rowdiness into their neighborhood. After much
discussion, it was moved by Burmeister, and seconded by Hammer,
that we ask the Village Council to designate that Village property
known as Outlot #1 which extends from Regent Avenue to Noble
Avenue along Bassetts Creek as park property to be used as a
natural area, and that the Park staff develop a walking trail
suitable for the area. Carried.
It was also noted by Commission members present, that there were
no bike signs depicting a bike trail south of Scheid Park to the
end of Adeline Lane, where the Village owns property on Sweeney
Lake. Following discussion, it was moved by Burmeister, and
seconded by Hammer, that trails signs be erected using minor
residential streets from Scheid Park south to the end of Adeline
Lane, with a bike rack installed on theVillage owned property.
Carried.
At this time, favorable discussion ensued from Commission
members present relative to designating that Village owned
property at the south end of Adeline Lane for park purposes.
There being no further additions or deletions to the basic trail
system, it was moved by Duebner, seconded by Hammer, that the
Trails Committee present their plan to the Village Council on
July 16th. Carried.
