1-31-1974117 REGULAR MEETING GOLDEN VALLEY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION January 31, 1974 A regular meeting of the Golden Valley Park and Recreation Commission was held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 1974, at the Brookview Community Center, 8200 Wayzata Blvd., Golden Valley, Minnesota. Chairman Brown presided, and the following members were present: Burmeister, Hammer, Jackson, and Petersen; absent, Duebner, Gergen, Kelby, and Thrall. MINUTES It was moved by Petersen, and seconded by Hammer, that the minutes of the regu':ar meeting of December 27, 1973, be approved with the following exception: that the name of Burmeister be added to those present at the meeting. Minutes were approved as corrected. SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE At this time, Mr. Brenna stated that Mr. Westlake was unable to meet with us to discuss the subdivision ordinance, but would be at out next meeting. PARK CONSTRUCTION REPORT Mr. Brenna stated that the park construction report was half finished, and he wanted a more detailed breakdown from the Finance Department. Mr. Brenna stated that the financial report will be ready for our meeting in February. OPEN SPACE REPORT The Open Space Committee report and the Committee itself was discussed. After discussion, Commission members present felt that the report was an excellent one, but that it was difficult to visualize it and that inasmuchas a map is available we should secure such map and discuss the report more in detail at a special meeting. Chairman Brown appointed Petersen, Burmeister, and Jackson a sub -committee to study the report and to report back to the Commission. It was also recommended that the Trails Committee be represented at the special meeting. The special meeting will be held on February 11, 1974. RICE LAKE PARK At this time, Mr. Brenna brought forth alternative designs for Rice Lake Park. After discussion, it was moved by Burmeister and seconded by Petersen, that a presentation of the designs be brought forth to the residents of Rice Lake Park area and discussed at our regular meeting in March. Motion carried. 118 Regular Meeting Page two Golden Valley Park and Recreation Commission January 31, 1974 COUNCIL MEETING — February 25, 1974 After much discussion, on the proposed meeting with the Villace Council, Chairman Brown appointed Hammer and himself to a sub—committee to prepare a presentation to the Village Council. This presentation will also be discussed at the special meeting to be held in February. The meeting with the Village Council will be held on February 25, 1974, at 7:30 p.m. at Brookview Community Center. Mr. Brenna will inform the Village Council as to the time and place of the meeting. RESIGNATION — Mr. Gerald Thrall Chairman Brown read a letter of resignation from Mr. Thrall, wherein he stated that due to business committments which necessitate his being out of town a great deal of the time, he, at this time wishes to resign from the Park and Recreation Commission. Chairman Brown asked that a letter of appreciation for Mr. Thrall's services be sent to him.
