GOLDEN VALLEY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
May 1, 1974
A special meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was held on Wednesday,
May 1, 1974, at five o'clock p.m. at the Brookview Community Center, 8200
Wayzata Blvd., Golden Valley, Minnesota.
Vice Chairman Petersen presided, and the following members were present:
Brown, Courey, Duebner, Hammer, Jaffe, and Kelby; members absent, Jackson and
Gergen. Also present were John L. Brenna, Park and Recreation director, David
Latvaaho, Park and Recreation assistant director, and Gertrude Peterson,
secretary.
At this time, Dr. Petersen stated that the purpose of the meeting was to re—
consider tennis policies relative to a court fee and resident fee at the
Brookview tennis courts.
After discussion, it was moved by Courey and seconded by Kelby, that the
courts be subject to reservations from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on week days
and from 12 o'clock noon to 10:00 p.m. on weekends, with the court time fee
and resident card to remain as stated in our original motion at our last
regular meeting. After further discussion on the motion, a vote was taken
and the motion was defeated.
Mrs. Duebner moved that the Park and Recreation Commission set up a policy
of adult preference for all city tennis courts after 5:00 p.m. for ages
sixteen (16) years and up, seven (7) days a week. The motion was seconded
by Courey. Discussion followed.
Mrs. Duebner then moved to amend the above motion to designate the adult
preferece to Monday through Friday, and not to apply it to Saturday and
Sunday. Motion then carried.
At this time, Mr. Courey moved that our motion on tennis policies which
were passed at the regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission
meeting on April 25th, be recinded; it was seconded by Duebner and carried.
It was moved by Hammer and seconded by Kelby, that the meeting be
adjourned. Adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
