CCIMMI SS ICN REASSIGNMENTS
Claudia Fuglie, Chuck Burmeister, and Gordon McDonald have been reassigned
three year terms. Michel le Bix has been assigned a two year term and Dr.
Alfred Anderigg a one year term. All terms begin March 1, 1987.
CIVIC C W17ER TASK FCHCE
The City Council is looking for volunteers to review the conjested area by
the Civic Center. This was the number one problem brought up at the Town
Meeting. After some discussion, Rich Krahulec volunteered to serve on this
Task Force and Gordon McDonald agreed to be the alternate.
PARK MAINIIIIANCE BUILDDU
The question came up regarding the proposed new park maintenance building
to be built in conjunction with the street maintenance department. This is
to give more room for the golf maintenance whose space is currently very
inadequate. Money has been budgeted for a number of years to add on to the
building. Now it is felt that a new building for both park and street
mainetnance would best meet the needs.
MR14EBOTA RDOWWICN ASID PARK ASSOCIATION (MRPA)
Rick Jacobson explained that M.R..P.A. is an organization of recreation
professionals. A part of this organization is the Board/Commission Sec-
tion. Each Corrmission member is registered with the M.R..P.A. and should be
receiving regular mailings. A steering committee is being formed for the
Board/Commission Section. They desire a representative from this commis-
sion to serve on this steering committee. One or two events are held each
year and a meet ing wi th a speaker wou 1 be he 1 d at the fa 1 1 M.R..P.A.
conference. Jim Johnson said he would attend the initial meeting at Brook-
view
rook-
view Community Center.

MARY HILLS PARK UPDAJE
Rick Jacobson reported that all of the park signs had been found. A phone
call had been received from a youth in the neighborhood who came across the
signs which were very wel l hid in the brush. All of the signs were re-
covered during a search by the Park Maintenance crew and they wi 1 1 be
reinstalled. Gordon McDonald suggested sending a letter to this boy. Rick
Jacobson said this had been discussed, as well as a possible a cash reward.
However, after talking with the boy's father, he felt his son need not be
rewarded monetarily for doing something good. A letter is being sent from
the Mayor commending him.
POOL/RECRWICKAL, FACILITY Ci1VMITIEE REPCRT
Chuck Burmeister updated the Commission on the current status of the pool
issue. A model of the proposed facility will be on display with fact
sheets and questionnaires at public places and neighborhood meetings. If
it is found after the meetings that there is very strong opposition, the
referendum could be cancelled. Chuck further explained that the format of
the neighborhood meetings is to inform, not sell the facility. A "vote
yes" campaign must be done outside of City funds and staff. Such a group
could evolve out of the neighborhood meetings and the pool committee mem-
bers could serve as a catalyst for this along with other Council appointed
members.
Media kits and public service announcements have been sent out. The Park
and Recreation Department did get a response from the Minneapolis Tribune
and two radio stations.
Rick Jacobson informed the Commission that Eden Prairie is having an $8
million referendum to add a gymnasiumwith running track, multi-purpose
room, day care room and weight room, separate adult locker rooms and a
second sheet of ice in the arena. Their original building has an arena,
three racquet ba 11 courts, pool, sma11 weight room and a vending area.
