This will enable the seniors to view their "Seniors on Screen" program, as well as aid in staff and coaches training, etc. Thanks were expressed to the Golden Valley Women's Club. A question was raised on the driving range. Rick Jacobson reported that the 1988 budget included money to study what could be done to keep the range safe. Higher nets were installed and a new rule that woods are not allowed at the driving range has been implemented. There was no report from the Committee. However, Micki Bix raised a ques- tion as to why the minutes of the Improvement Committee meetings appear to only reflect concerns on the 18 hole course. She feels there are concerns on the Par 3 course that should be looked at by the Committee. • 1 : a I .I5 Rick Jacobson reported that two years ago a resident had asked the Commis- sion and City Council to approve cutting box elder trees in a natural area because of the problem they were having with box elder bugs. The Commis- sion and the Council denied their request. Again this year this resident is being bothered by the bugs and after inspecting the problem at their home, Rick explained to them that the City would not be cutting down these trees. Rick Jacobson reported that School District 281 is considering building a new football/track stadium to replace Mielke Field. Sandburg Junior High is one of the locations being considered. If this were to happen, the City would lose one and maybe two Babe Ruth baseball fields and one or two softball fields. Although the school district owns the land, there is not ample parking for a stadium. The District may try to work out a deal with Honeywell to use their parking lot. The Golden Valley City Planner is on the committee and he has expressed the concern of the City and the affect placing this stadium at Sandburg would have. Al Anderegg commended the staff which maintains the flower beds on Brookview Golf Course. ion was de fly Micki Bix and C Chair Groger seconded byh ah y8a journ. Vice Chair KrA ulec 2
