GOLDEN VALLEY GIRLS FASTPITCH REPORT
Ray Kauffman and Skip Hall, representing the Girls Fastpitch Association, gave a report on their
program. There has been a substantial increase in the number of participants over the years. They
expect to have nine teams this summer, which is a fifty percent increase in participation and results
in a shortage of practice fields. Ray and Skip presented an outline showing the history of participa-
tion, objects, coaching development and the uniqueness of the Golden Valley program.
Golden Valley will host a tournament at Lions Park on July 26-27, 1992.
The Commission expressed their appreciation for the good work of Skip and Ray.
POOL TASK FORCE UPDATE
Rick Jacobson reported that four architects were interviewed by City staff and one representative
from the Pool Task Force. The consulting firm selected was Gremmer-Ohm, which has extensive
experience building outdoor pools. The City Council will act on this recommendation at their
March 2nd Council meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
Pat Borchert inquired if any more had been done regarding the use of Lions Park for soccer fields,
with additional lighting installed. Rick Jacobson responded that there had been no further action
to date.

Rick Jacobson reported that Mayor Bakken had received a letter requesting that the City pass an
ordinance prohibiting the feeding of deer. The Council authorized staff to contract with the DNR
to conduct a deer count in Golden Valley.
