Rick Birno gave a review of the Wtt'

He also presented an outline of the summer programs. Added this year are soccer, sand volleyball, Base-
ball Skills Camp, Sports, Games & More, Chess Club, Bird Feeding & Houses, Holiday Crafts, Beach
Party, Wild Mountain, Minnesota Zoo, and a second Water Day.
Rick explained that evening T -ball was not being offered due to a shortage of ball fields. Presently the
fields are being used by Girls Slowpitch and Fastpitch, Adult Slowpitch, Little League, Soccer, and Babe
Ruth. To take fields away from these existing successful programs with volunteer coaches, did not
receive support from any Commissioners.
There was some discussion regarding the difficulty with Fall Soccer team selection. The program
generates over;300 participants and a few complaints have been registered regarding the balace of ability
between teams. After reviewing current procedures and discussing various alternatives, it was concluded
that the present procedure would be continued.
OLD BUSINESS
GOLDEN OAKS PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT
Tom Zins reported that he and other Commission members had visited with Mibs Pearson regarding the
playground equipment at Golden Oaks Park. The new equipment is visible from the Pearson's home, as
was the previous equipment. The Park and Recreation Department had input from the neighborhood
regarding what equipment should go in and where it should be placed. It was the consensus of the
Commission that the equipment was not offensive, and they would not recommend spending any more
money on the project for planting as requested by Mrs. Pearson. However, if Mrs. Pearson desired to do
some planting to further obstruct her view of the playground, the City Staff would work with her. These
plantings, however, should not interfere with mower access or park operations.
LYLA ANDEREGG - BWGA TEE TIMES
Tom Zins reported that the Commissioners had received another letter from Lyla Anderegg regarding tee
times for the ladies 9 -hole golf league. It was the consensus of the Commission that Mrs. Anderegg
should work through the executive board of the BWGA to facilitate any changes. George Murad will
contact Mrs. Anderegg regarding this issue.
NEW BUSINESS
